I watched a good chunk of the anime but dropped it hard.

Shit is super misogynistic. All the female characters in the show are:

1. Agency-less walking vaginas
2.

3. Are illustrated to be strong, and capable, but are still without any agency
4. Previous conquests of the MC/MC's dad
5. Emotionally inept, pathetic, and weak

Or some combination of those. It sickened me to my stomach to see

not to mention the show changes dramatically 2/3rds of the way into the series. So I imagine this VN is probably going to be even worse, honestly.

EDIT: It's honestly too bad, there are some great conceptual ideas, and there are some good executions in it, but all the women in the series are just trashed constantly. Compare it to something like Re:Zero, where the women hold positions of power, and even though they get fucked up in terrible ways, they are not entirely without agency or emotionally pathetic.

Watch Anime before play game?
No. Never watch an anime for a visual novel first if it doesn't have a rep to be exceptionally good. The list of shit anime is incredibly long now. baisically all anime based on the SciAdV games aside form steins;gate and imo steins;gate zero are utter trash.
This game might not be a SciAdV game itself but its very clearly the inspriration for those games, very clearly steins;gate itself.

I recently finished Chaos;Child which also has an abysmal anime adaptation and found it more or less equal to the original s;g itself. Not even talking about every single fate/ stay night anime. Even UBW for its decent is just the middle chapter in a three route story and thus does not work nearly as well as the vn itself. So no and i'm very tired of this "imo shit by now" There should be an objective rule what an adaptation has to have to be considered worth it. But i don't know of one yet.

... which makes using a walkthrough from the classic version not 100% dependable. Although I'm not 100% sure if I did it correctly, so the second problem might not exsist. But I am 100% sure that typo does exsist.
This is my biggest problem with this version as of now. There seems to be changes in this remake that make it just not vaiable to use the old walktrough anymore and i guess this version is too recent to have gottan a dependable walktrough on its own yet.
I'm in the aforementioned cave and didn't see a bug yet, but tbh i didn't read every line for a long time by now. There is just too much repeating, its starting to feel like such a huge waste of time..

Regarding typos i also found missing words and stuff like this. Why you think they would not put this out like this is quite funny, considering the amount of shit we recently got with far worse translation (Custom Order Maid 3D 2 for example lol.)
This is the age we live in either enough people report this shit and they patch it, or maybe years down the line some fans clean this up. I would not hold my breath anymore.

Edit: The walktrough on does work pretty well for this remake.
I wish i had used that form the get go, the hint system ingame is cool and all, but it doesn't prevent you form wasting your time getting all endings for the routes as well as all jewels blind.

Don't see the problem, there is even a term for that called "first impressions", btw.

Anyway i am done now and i still have the same complaints i had as i only played it for a few hours.
I put nearly 80 hours in total into it and the structure is a severe problem that brings a game that could have been a 9 down to at least an 8 for me.

Well fuck me. There was a 1.2GB update on 10/10.

10/10
Fixed issue where, on Ryzen CPUs, the game would become unresponsive after certain event scenes in the main scenario.

10/8
Fixed issue where, on Ryzen CPUs, the game would become unresponsive after a certain event scene in the Prologue.

10/7
Fixed issue where, in full screen mode, character mouth animation would be off-center for some users.

I dont plan on trying to make update for this game. Game is rather large as it is.

I just hope it had a good story because I see this game was from Spike Chunsoft. I really like the Danganronpa series tho.

Can somebody who has played both the original and this remake (and isn't blinded by nostalgia) give me an honest answer which version I should play? I personally don't have any problems with either art style and I don't mind the absence of sex scenes. I just want to know if there are any other differences that might make one version better than the other (ie. drastic changes with the story or something). This is a very highly rated VN and I just want to experience the best possible version of the story.

The art is up to the person, neither are exactly stand out for their time, but its understandable to have a preference for one or the other. I think people are a bit misinformed or don't entirely understand about YU-NO is that this is moreso a remake of the Sega Saturn version where in that version they took out sex scenes and usually just rewrote things a bit so things were still lewd, but not straight up porn. This also resulted in them adding voice acting to the game and a few gameplay adjustments like 2 more jewels. This remake was to appeal to a wider audience, but it isn't like they removed them only for the remake or something, there was already a version that had them removed or heavily edited to be used as a better basis for the remake considering this was going to be a console release. The gameplay improvements in the remake are clear, the remake is leaps and bounds better with additions to the point and click segments and it doesn't waste your time. Plus it includes the extra 2 jewels from the Saturn version which is a great addition since you could easily run out or get possibly stuck in the original. I say you can't go wrong with either version, and the remake isn't as bad as people make it out to be, especially if you play it on PC, since Spike Chunsoft were forced to censor the localization on PS4 and Switch with extra lightbeams and other edits.
