This is how I've set it up in Windows 10 without issues.

Note that it does have another AIENG in the parent folder which doesn't work. I forgot why it was set up that way.

You seem to be trying to run the executable from said parent folder. You need to run it from the Yuno folder.

Remember to have run the Powershell script as mentioned in the install instructions or it won't work.

Installation:
Windows
1. Extract
2. Right-click and run with powershell on install.ps1
3. Start the game with AI5ENG_VOICE.exe inside the yuno folder

I... Never, ever, saw such error. Neither did Google, which shows how bad your situation is D:

Did you run the install.ps1 script? If so, are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11 (the later is trickier)? 64 bits? Did you set compatibility settings, specially color one, as mentioned above? Do you have DirectX 9 installed?

(I don't know if DirectX9 is necessary or not, but some missing DLLs produce similar sounding error messages; DirectX 9 and .NET ver 4 are those you usually want to play old games, but I have no idea of Yu-No specifics, you might need an expert... or trying the PC98 emulation).

Hi I dont know if you figured it out but I decided to reverse app and read through the assembly code.
What it basically does is checking your operating system version and throws the error if you use an older version? I dont know exactly how the getversion function works(kernel.dll windows file) but I assume the older window 10 versions are not supported with the game but more likely the written code is just wrong because depending on the version it can either throw a 1 or a 0.
I patched the file let me know if it works for you.

I'm on Windows 11.

1. Once you've downloaded and extracted the game, move the "Classics" folder to your C drive.
2. In your Windows search box type "Windows PowerShell" and run it as admin.
3. Copy and paste this command and hit enter: Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned
4. After that type and hit enter: Y
5. Then copy and paste this command and hit enter: CD C:\Classics .\install.ps1
6. If that doesn't work remove "CD" and try again, I forgot what I did but one should work.
7. It will install instantly.
8. Go into the "YUNO" folder and right click "AI5ENG_VOICE", "Properties", "Compatibility", check "Reduced colour mode", apply and hit ok.
9. Run the game and enjoy.

Not sure if this is a working version which is portable (because I'm still downloading it, atm).

I do get a crash when I want to go into the options in game, but I don't need them really, so that is not a big deal.

Edit: I needed to downgrade the tool to not have the game crash when doing anything. Not just options but also New Game start does not work on the latest version of it.

How do you save in this game? When I quit using the top bar, It says I've to go to main menu and save there but there is no option to go to main menu. Tried every key on the keyboard.

It's done via in-game item, meaning you have to play the game until you get one of them. And you have limited saves throughout the game because of this.

Did we already mention that if you use all save slots, you lose the capability of saving and loading?

Because you do lose the capability of loading saves once you use all save slots. (If you mean the checkpoint one, which I guess you did. There's also some other item which saves a single "slot" so you can continue playing later ─ more of a "resume/continue" than a "save" per se)
