I seem to be unable, for the life of me, to go with any other character than Scarlett (and always the girlfriend route) no matter how many times I start over and tell myself "this time I'm gonna try something else".

You need to get her relationship level up. Just spend time with her, buy her gifts if you want to speed it up, and you'll get there. You can check her section on the phone or the guide section for more info.
This seems interesting, but the time limit just makes it not playable for me. This definitely would have been better as a VN, the time limit removes what makes a sandbox fun.
The time limit is basically non-existent at the moment. When you reach day 80, you're given the option to wind the clock back two weeks, keeping all your progress. You can do that as many times as you like and just play endlessly.
I just double checked and the event does work, so I'm afraid it's just bad luck. Here's some tips for getting it:I used the clock back on day 80 5 times but i never see this event.

Maybe it is a name fail and this means a other girl or i have a bad luck.
- Make sure you haven't had a random event that day. In the guide section of the phone, in other random events turn hints on, then at the top it will say if you've had an event that day or not.
- In the morning event section, turn the chance of morning events down to 0%, so they don't eat your random event that day.
- Find a time when Ashley is on her own in the living room (Wednesday afternoon, Thursday midday)
- The event trigger checks when you enter the living room, so just keep going in and out without hanging out with Ashley until something happens when you go in.
- If a different event triggers, try again another day.

"Event visit Ashley in the living room if she is alone " So i was thinking alone in the House.
The event trigger checks when you enter the living room, so just keep going in and out without hanging out with Ashley until something happens when you go in.

People have to keep in mind that you can snowball the stats in this game. The key to do so is earning money (selfies) and buying books. In fact, that's all you should be doing alongside pushing knowledge if you don't wanna bother yourself too much with all the scores. Do that for 10+ days straight and you're already set up for the rest of the game, safe and sound. Start out by "brute forcing" the book that gets you the faster reading perk followed by the one that doubles your affection gain... Afterwards you push lewdness and voyeurism also with books. Lewdness first so you can make more money..
All of that still sounds pretty grindy, but not really...
Basically the first couple of days, until you have 250 money for the first book i've mentioned above, should look like this
Earn money
lewdness
+3 knowledge (on the art route)
lewdness
lewdness
All that being said, you can also do whatever in this game, but it'll take a lot longer to get where you want to be and you also don't get the instant gratification of unlocking everything when it happens. Which, I suppose, can be a little frustrating for some players

Every time I start over, I either save edit my money or several stats, so I can get to the lewds faster. It might not be how I'm supposed to be playing, but the repetition kills you after a while.

I've gotta admit I'm at a loss here. I see the problem occur when I load your save, but not on any other save. Also, it only occurs the first time seeing the animation - if you use the replay gallery it seems to work fine, even though it's the exact same scene.
Did you use any kind of mod or save editor? Does the same problem occur on other animations? What about starting a new game?
FWIW, it seems that even though the game appears to freeze, you can keep clicking to go past the problematic animations, and then view the scene okay in the replay gallery. Not the best of solutions, but it's all I've got at the moment.
I'll look into it some more. Sorry I can't be more help!
It sucks that you can't re-encounter the same random event. I didn't even unlock some images or cross off a check list because either my lewdness or voyeurism skill isn't high enough.

I love the fact that, pre-bugfix, Ezri made the MC cum so hard that it caused the game to crash.
Surely that was a feature, not a bug? I'd certainly look at it that way if a girl could make me sploosh like that.

No other animation has done that, no mods, no edits, the only mod I ever use on any game is if there's a walkthrough mod, or an incest mod, and even then, only if they appear in the primary game post.
I assume this is an edge-case bug, could be related to unlocking stuff in the gallery perhaps? I've no idea how you've coded it, but it might depend on where in the code you've set the unlock trigger?
