I yoinked this out of the backlog once more, even though I didn't have particularly high expectations for this dev's work. Mostly though, it was because I was reminded that this game exists and that also reminded me of the issues I had with it.
The first thing I tracked up is the version... and the version here on f95 is not the latest. The latest version is 1.03, which I got my hands on in the end... However, that did not fix the pixelation problem. Looking into things, I unpacked the game's images, and quickly found out that the main CGs for this game are at 816x624 resolution... and looking into things, the game is supposed to boot at that resolution too. It doesn't for some reason, but if you have a bit of patience, you can drag a corner inwards and it'll look as it should.
This applies to the non-installer version from workupload... but I suspect it'll apply to every version based on some screenshots I saw on Kagura's discord. Dunno if the game was scuffed from the dev, or scuffed by them in this case.
Either way, after I solved the technical issues, simple though they'd have been for someone more tech savvy than I am... I got around to playing the game. Mainly because Zefira is cute... and that's pretty much the best thing I can say about this game. Everything else is mediocre... In spite of the fact that there's actually a base there for a pretty good game... but more on that later.
The story is your typical "newlywed wife has to support her useless hubby" stuff, though the spin with him being an aspiring writer does try to be at least somewhat more original than the usual debt nonsense. So I'll give them that. The real problem with it all is that there's no actual sense of pressure. There's no reason for Zefira to rush in terms of earning the big bucks aside from her own impatience. There's no impending rent, there's no reason why they can't tighten their belts and live more frugally for a while until her income at the guild grows higher... There's absolutely nothing. Nil. Nada.
There's no gameplay mechanic involved either.
Which means that Zefira tangling with the would be bulls of this game is entirely down to player choice, which I always find meh in terms of a game that's supposedly focused on the NTR. I'll always affirm that for a game that's focused on NTR, avoiding said NTR shouldn't be as simple as a player's choice. It should require effort, or skill, or brain-powers... a modicum of something that makes the game feel like the other guy(s) are actually pursuing the slut.
Sadly, that's not the case here.
It's a shame too, because the dev actually put some effort into the gameplay of this thing, though he didn't take said effort as far as he should have. He implemented a skill-tree, he implemented random gear drops, an element system, varying levels for monsters, gear enhancements, even random dungeon generation in one section of the game. Really, with a bit of more serious effort, he could have had a pretty solid RPG here, even ignoring the H-stuff. Unfortunately, he didn't really push things as much as he could have... The bonus bosses thing were a missed opportunity imho, given that beating them is just a matter of reaching ~lvl20, or getting enough SP to unlock Elemental Slash, then making sure you have enough attack+HP to beat them in 3 turns when using the sword boost skill thing. I'm pretty sure they can be beaten earlier if you're willing to invest in enhancing gear. Once you beat any of them though, you get a piece of super gear, and the other two become trivial after that.
Moving on.
The H-stuff is... ok... It's there, it's hot in terms of art if you like the style, but the scenes are all kind of way too short, and there's way too few of them. This makes it feel like Zefira goes from zero to turbo-slut way too fast, and that's no fun either. The game would've honestly been better with a single bull, or just two of them, and more events for them. Well, I suppose that progression doesn't matter much when it comes to Phil, because his whole schtick is mind-control and perception alteration, so in his case, pretty much anything goes.
Still, meh overall.
All in all, the game is an ok time-waster, but nothing to write home about. It's one of those games you play once, fap/schlick/whatever a few times depending on what you find hot, and then forget about it. Definitely not one worth revisiting.
