She live but still sad, missing MC. So not really an ideal ending, I want a happy which everyone are alive and well. but marie can go, she got some issue

Damn, after playing the update: This aged really bad.
So one of my favorite LI's (Swansong) forced one of our friends to kill their parents as a 11 year old. Thats kinda bad, im having a hard time to imagine how to fix her at this moment
And shes not even the worst, i really DID NOT LIKE marie turning into a super duper over the top clown like evil villain, im probably biases because i saw her as my favorite/most interesting LI before that turn, now i cant take her serious anymore, like tf is Miss "I could have just asked you but instead i decided to torture your friends" even thinking lol
I hated the whole backstory too, everything about the rape was really shit. 1) that being the (main)reason why she turned into a evil clown who kills people left and right and 2) thats why the mc (and marie) perceives himself as a monster? Because he talked a shitstain into suicide?
... Thats kinda whack isnt it? Imo he should have done something WAY WORSE if marie and he himself consider it as something this evil. I felt more like it was waaaaay too tame of a punishment and felt not AT ALL guilty or like a monster lol ...
... wasnt a fan of marie having the possibility to all mc for help when she got raped yet didnt do it because .. paralyzed? Guys dont understand? Why even give her the possibility in the first place and point it out? Whats the message behind it from the dev?

Well, just like Lilith intervened back when we were about to die back then, I believe the story is pointing at another force (The Endless) influencing what happened between Marie and the ex friend of us which is probably why we never got to hear her call, we are still missing details of everything that happened after all we only see from our POV.Damn, after playing the update: This aged really bad.

Caleb sees his himself as a monster because he never got closure over what happened, us readers may have full context but at the end of the day both of them were his friends and he can't help but feel remorse atleast until he gets some closure.
Current Marie which is very different from her old self wants this monster because she only sees our current self as being limited by the regret and she needs us at full strength to stop the Endless.
Also I would add Caleb already isn't the most reliable narrator, now I am not saying Marie is innocent in this but there may be more to what happened that what we have been told from Calebs POV.

Marie mentioned that she did not shouted for calebs help during the rape (unlike she apparently did later on when caleb didnt hear her).
Very possible that she was already influenced/working with something/someone back than.
What closure? From whom? His former friend raped his girlfriend and in turn he talked him into suicide and apparently told Marie about it (and she considered him a monster too for it).
how is that related to closure? How does that make caleb a monster? Imo it would have been more understandable if he did something immorale towards someone innocent.
He killed the guy who fucking raped (and destroyed) the women he loved, yeah thats against the law but not at all a monster even less as caleb‘s whole stick is being logical and not emotional. I kinda hope Caleb did something worse to justify him being classified as a Monster Not only by himself but Marie, this is not it yet imo.

We agree on Marie being influenced or another force influencing behind the scenes when everything happened.
Other than that, I never took the whole "Caleb being a monster" as him being a murderer or worse... From the beginning I always saw it as him being too tough on himself, the way he acts during the story doesn't strike me as someone capable of doing that, unless there have been more mind wiping shenanigans that haven't been explained, I think this is to show us that this was a traumatic experience for him as well.
To me, he sees himself as a monster because he has never accepted what happened and hasn't really moved on, yes his friend is presented as an awful person from his POV and because of that he probably deserved what happened but at the end of the day, Caleb sees himself as the murderer and at that point he was also just a socially awkward teenager, I can totally see why he would see himself as a monster after this specially when it cost him his relationship with Marie who probably just needed her BF to take care of her first and found him missing when she needed him the most.
That's the way I see it atleast, again we are missing a lot of information and I think this is on purpose, also Caleb is not the most reliable narrator till this point so we may be missing some context or even what we believed it happened isn't exactly what it actually happened, but again this is my interpretation who knows maybe in the end you are right.

Imo this story would be better if Caleb indeed did something monstrous, preferably related to his attitude for cold logic, a utterly amoral action justified by the long term development based on his logic (while lacking empanthy and so on). Something which really makes you understand why marie esp perceived him as a monster despite loving him.
Its not only Caleb himself who is maybe hard on himself with his emo attutiude who perceived himself as a monster, its marie too which doesnt make a lot of sense for me it it was "just" about him talking her rapist into suicide. You could argue its wrong, its against the law, self justice or whatever ... but a monster for killing a rapist, really? Nah, thats not enough for me, like not at all. I just expect (and kinda need) something more vile.
I think it would be really better for this story if caleb indeed did something wrong and in my perception he barely did. Daniel deserved even worse.
Im afraid thats what the dev tried to potray too (caleb not being there when marie needed him blabla) but imo thats kinda stupid and i hope there are deeper reasons.
We didnt even saw much of a difference in calebs behavior between nowadays and back than other than him talking daniel into suicide, so whats the caleb marie want to get back nowadays? Whats the difference?

I think many people will do directly what Caleb did indirectly. So i dont think it is considered as monster, it is a pretty understandable reaction. Those who said they won't, put it to test. I'm pretty sure a huge portion of people will do it. Is it the right thing to do ? Perhaps not, does it make those who act upon it a monster? Don't think so. Humans behave irrationally when hurt

Hello!
Sorry for the delay in updates. I took some time off (so to speak) because I started the new job and it has been absolutely overwhelming. I knew it was gonna happen, but I figured with 5 years experience I'd adapt more quickly. To be fair, what pertains to level and game design was easy, but learning a complex project and the tools used was exhausting. I wasn't really up to work on anything after finishing my shift. A month later, now, I feel like I'm doing better. I feel much more comfortable with my work there, so I feel like I can start work on Zero End again. So, here's what my plans are from now:
1. Put Chapter 2 on Steam -- I figured out how to handle DLCs so Steam doesn't start bitching (like it needs any more reason to get banny). The way I'll do it is provide the full script and only have the images and animations as DLC. We'll see how that goes.
2. Create the outline for the next Chapter. Yes, the whole chapter. I'll be releasing shorter bits from other characters' POVs like I mentioned, but, for this style of writing to work, I need to have a very clear picture of every story beat so they blend correctly. So that's my first order of business.
3. Start making some Special Renders to make up for a lack of content in the first part of the release cycle. Maybe we'll have a poll or something, make it more interactive? Comment here if you have some ideas for special renders. I'll ask on Discord too. If I get 4-5, I'll make a poll. Might be fun.
Anyway, that's all from me for now. Sorry to have kept you waiting, but I feel I can slowly get back into things now. Hope you're having an amazing day!

This game's story is pure poetry in motion. Can't believe I had this sitting in my backlog for a year.
All I have to say about the most recent update is that I hope I forget all of this dumb backstory by the time the next update comes out or else I won't be able to take this game seriously anymore.

split the animation into separate frames, add them as images that you have to click through. with hard pauses after each image so you can't skip them. and disable auto-forward

The dev is becoming like Nova from Eternum
At first the game felt somewhat fluff, I chosen to be with Rayne as she is a really cuty and sweetheart, but seems it was a bad decision as in the end Alice dies, Mc take over her oracle power, Keira wants to be a vampire, his friend become hunter of the shield, I wonder what will come next. Very good and awesome story vn, maybe next time i'll try go for Keira or Marie, see how it turns out, but tbh I don't like the looks of new Marie, she looks pretty bad. I hope to find next time a playthrough I can save both Brianna and Alice, not sure what the right choice will be, but for now i'll leave it to rest so next playthrough feel somewhat refreshing.
