Interesting premise, and the bio-lab holds some interesting promise.

At the risk of giving unsolicited feedback:

The exploration mechanic could maybe use a second look. Putting in navigation codes one after another in sequence is very input heavy for how little output most of the planets are. It is cool that the planets have their own little block of flavor text but as they don't do anything it's something that quickly fades out of focus.

A library of notable planets could be a good quality of life addition. Yes the player could just write the information down but having a list of links that go to important planets once they are visited for the first time would make navigation a little less painful. Not sure what you're doing with the story history (as you have the back button disabled) so I don't know if this would work but Sugarcube has a 'visited' function that could gate if statements. Something like <<if visited("Passage Name")>>etc.

Other big pain point I noticed was it not being clear if using mind control also gives you the human for the scene. It seems like it does sometimes but I'm not sure if it does always, and that is a pretty big decision point for the player as humans seem to be a finite resource.

Also, not related to gameplay but as you call out in the intro that you're using other people's work a credits list somewhere in game for where you're pulling scenes from would be good.

Best of luck with the game!

Not sure if you noticed (took me a minute) but there is a Starlog on the left side for some of the notable planets (not all of them).

I didn't notice, which is on me for not seeing the big UI button, but the starlog as implemented doesn't solve the issue I'm talking about fully. Saving the player from writing down the codes is good, but I think having some form of quick link in the travel menu itself would be a better way to go.

Thank you for pointing that out though, I completely missed it.

I think it's probably a design choice in the sense that it's part of the game to try and remember all the incidental planets that aren't in that log (and I agree that constantly typing in the planet numbers does become a little bit of a chore), but I'm willing to give them a little time and see how this develops (I'm not suggesting you aren't).

its definitely a good story, very interesting. would like an addition of a quest log or a side quest log to make remembering where im at in a side quest easier

Thank you and I genuinely welcome all criticism. It really helps! I'm trying to find solutions to the issues. I do have some alternative ideas for traveling without typing, but I think they only work well as long as there are just a few planets in the system.

Just making the Starlog as hyperlinks would help out a ton. Also possibly showing 'last viewed' so I can remember if I was at 56 or 57 last time.

Too early/raw for me to rate it, but if I come back and there's a v0.3 that's still this consistent in quality the whole way through I'll probably be giving it a 4 or 5. It's a really promising start, solid character, interesting planets, good clip variety.

I’ve created an alternative version of the travel system. Hopefully, it’s now easier to use and more intuitive - no typing needed! Anyone who feels like testing this version and sharing their thoughts is more than welcome. No need to start over!
What’s new:
  • The planets are now grouped in sets of 20 for easier navigation.
  • You can simply click to travel with your mouse — no manual input required.
  • If a planet is important to your mission, its icon will automatically change once visited.
  • A new UI indicator has been added that shows the last visited planet at all times — so you always know where you left off!
Thank you in advance for any feedback! I don’t plan to expand the world further until the foundation feels solid.
If this version makes things clearer and easier for you, I’ll stick with it moving forward.
