My major issues with this game is there doesn't seem to be any story progression it's just a few added images you can see in sandbox mode and maybe, maybe a sidequest that is 2-5 minutes depending on how slow you read. There is no real buildup or corruption element as everyone is already super horny, you just don't get to see any of it. The succubus girlfriend is 100% unnecessary in this world, because everyone is always horny on main and the bitch has no nose! Aside from it being stylized I just don't see much going on here and that's a shame.

Current update actually suggests that there's other elements in play. For a start the 'landlady' seems to be under some kind of magical psychological restraints. Yeah, her normally horny demeanor is her being -brought down- to that level of horny. And outside of those restraints she's even more uncontrolled. Which brings the succubus girlfriend back into play as a means of investigating exactly why, being a being of sex she's likely a natural at deducing psychological issues of excessive sex. I probably phrased that wrong, but my brain doesn't want to explain it better.

Update 6.1 feels like yet another step in the right direction... that also misses the mark.

• A cute date with the hot mom that actually leads to sexual content with her!
  • ...but because of ~story reasons~ you don't really get to fuck her and the whole thing feels like a cock-tease, which this game certainly loves doing.
• A little sprinklin' of lore here and there, which keeps things interesting. The ~story reasons~ for why the mom was getting increasingly horny (to the point she needed to be stopped), and the maid at the café looking mysteriously similar to Rose might be fun things to explore.
  • Except... who knows when we'll actually be able to delve deeper into that? The update pacing being so slow and the actual content-per-updates being so minimal means this stuff might not get explained until fuckin' November 2024 or something. Feels like I'm reading JoJolion again for the first time, but instead of a manga with kickass battles and weird mysteries, it's a porn game with nothing-special sex scenes and an absurd amount of incestuous teasing.
• What feels like a preview of even more characters that the MC might hopefully get to fuck in the future with the mermaids. I mean, at least I hope so? Kinda? Obviously they're pretty minor nameless characters that the dev didn't want to only imply the existence of (thus the reason why they exist in the first place), but... if you include characters like that I can hope they might have some content in the future, I dunno.
  • but also... god, even more characters the MC might potentially bone. While we're only just barely getting the "fuck your hot family" premise the game is based around.

This is just an armchair theory of mine, but I wonder if (part of) the reason why the updates are so minimal-but-slow is because the dev doesn't have enough funding on SubStar/Patreon to be able to work on the game more often. Feels like it's part of this kinda negative feedback loop where the game doesn't feel like it has enough content or updates enough for a larger amount of player funding/supporters, which leads to slower updates with less content, which means there aren't as many supporters... you get the point. (The other reason why I feel like the updates are slow-but-minimal is because the game goes a little too extra with all the lighting and shading, especially compared to other Koikatsu games, and ends up taking longer to work on for simpler scenes.)

Mood. Too many games make the mistake of introducing tons of side characters to try to cater to specific body types/fetishes and it makes the game very wide, but also very shallow as it forfeits character development for core characters.

I found Adoringfan's comment poignant on my game, even though this thread is about the Perfect Family game.

Thank you for this incite. I will think it over for my game, though many of my side characters will be in a single, MAYBE two, chapter/update(s). All three protagonists and main characters will have their backstory enhanced throughout the game.

Side characters wouldn't even really be that big of an issue if every update didn't add at least three more "possible future candidates for MC to fuck." If the cast of side characters was kept to like, the extended family, the girls from the school, maybe the titty-fight club, it wouldn't be so bad for giving the world some variety and depth (even if there's no way to currently interact with that.) But even an update like 6.1 that's supposed to focus on a date with the mom just has to throw in these three sirens/mermaids that the dev had to take the time to design and implement, not to mention this stupid "may or may not be a new character" with the "looks just like Rose, might actually be Rose" maid from the café. That last plot point also just adds to the stupidity of the whole thing because if she isn't Rose, then we're dealing with yet-another-new-character (stupid), but if she is Rose then there's no actual lead-up or build-up to "she's working at a maid café under an alias and she has sex with the MC" (also stupid, made worse by the fact that it happens in a content update dedicated to a different character entirely.)

I understand why you think it's cringe. While excess is always bad, I think having a game that uses and takes advantage of taboo talk is good.

I mean, how many games (especially western ones) use patches that just change the word "landlady" to "mom", "tenant" to "son", etc. And it's pretty tiring to read the same phrases every time. "I can't think that way about her. She's my landlady mom, for God's sake!" Or "We can't do this, you're my tenant son and I'm your landlady mom!". It's ridiculous.

That's why I think having games like this that actually make use of the taboo factor in conversations is a good thing. As you say, maybe it's a bit excessive in this game and I agree that some of the phrases seem a bit ridiculous to me lol. But I think that's what is meant to be achieved. Use the word "incest" in every way possible until it seems ridiculous.
