Figured I'd make a mod downloader script that makes things easy.

This tool is current as of 2/18; if a new mod comes out, simply add it to mods.txt following existing format.

Run DownloadModUpdates-kk.bat to auto-download every mod that you opt into using the also-included mods.txt file. The bat will then install your mods into the correct folder for steamless users. (It won't work for people who buy through Steam.)
You can right click the .bat and make a shortcut to the file, to put next to your existing KoboldKare executable (or shortcut) if you want to make it even easier to check for mod updates.

I included some ASCII art and instructions on opting in/out. Hopefully that should be enough to tell you what you're downloading and a good example of how to add mods to this mod updating script.

(read before use: This tool opts into a lot of mods by default. If you don't change anything in mods.txt before you run it, you'll end up downloading roughly 12 GB of mods.)

I guess nobody is gonna bother to upload several GB of mods and keep them up to date. Use SteamCMD to dl what you want.
I'm keeping the mod list on page 84 up to date so ppl can check out what's new. I'll add datestamps to see when the last update of each mod was made.
aight, thx for info

If you're using my downloader, I apparently picked a bad day to release it. Six new mods came out between then and now.

Here's a copy/paste, just drop this somewhere in the species list in mods.txt and you'll download them:

Code:
// Slug
workshop_download_item 1102930 3163755434
// Thicc Crocodile
workshop_download_item 1102930 3165157495
// Octavia (Warframe)
workshop_download_item 1102930 3165767983
// Lopunny
workshop_download_item 1102930 3170692555
// Thicc Crocodile but it took the fitnessgram pacer test
workshop_download_item 1102930 3171332892
// Warrior Kobo Chang (SMOL)
workshop_download_item 1102930 3171460215
While you're reading, a short reminder that SteamCmd won't re-download mods you've already subscribed to. It'll say it's downloading them, but it does a quick diff check, and if the local mod is the same as what's on the workshop it'll skip the mod move on. I optimized the bat for this, so only changed files are copied.

So I tried this game like a year ago and, while it was pretty nice content-wise, it was also in an absolute mess of a state and you had to use a mix of the tiny bits of tutorial it had together with multiple guides and wikis in different states of update to really find out everything that was possible to do in it.

Basically I'm wondering: is it any more streamlined now? Is it possible to just pick up and play without spending more time online looking for information?

Wait yeah I'm confused, so why is it marked as completed? Did I miss something? I'm playing the latest steam build and like this game still feels /far/ from complete... did the dev just give up and was like "here you go" and it's just reliant on mods now? tf

from what little i understand about the situation, they consider the game in its current state as feature complete, which includes mod support, and has moved on to a different project.

As long as people keep contributing with new modded characters and maps, i guess that's all that matters, for me at least, game is super fun with them. \o/

Feature complete huh? Save system still doesn't even properly work, with still bugs related to it with like buildings being reset and having to be re-opened, and the quest thing. Models doing weird shit because of being big and they didn't think to have other things to scale with them. Just overall jankness too that mods can't fix. What a lazy dev...we've been led on for how long about this? And yet another farming/breeding game that's barebones and will never be finished.

idk, the mods are nice sure, but for the most part even that could have been implemented better... the maps that are there are still kinda mostly eh, or just slightly improved vanilla. There's only two standout ones, the island and the town and I think the town one is literally a level ripped out of like ratchet & clank I think (but I could be wrong), and even for both of those it's a bit annoying to get around to like the store and stuff like that. It takes so long to do anything that it's faster just to spawn eggs and other things. Taking one thing at a time from the store is so annoying. Remember when there was a system in the game of being able to hold multiple things at once? They didn't even wanna try to make that work or at least have you put things in your inventory? Like they have an inventory system....
And then in addition, because of the unfinishedness of everything, the character mods suffer from sometimes it's total luck whether you get some characters, the fact you can't disable mods without making an entirely new save. Just everything takes forever. And then the breeding mechanic itself being so lazy with the odd palette recolor that's just changes the whole texture color uniformly instead of implementing some nuanced system where they could have just specific parts recolored, or have other patterns? There's far too much potential for this game that feels so utterly squandered.
Anyone know if it's still technically open source? Has nobody attempted to build off of it, or is it just spaghetti code being the reason nobody has tried?

Honestly i'm kinda scared the modding for this game dies, since that's basically what keeps the game alive at this point.

So much potential if modders get more characters in...
I need to buy this game, maybe there's something i'll be able to contribute with, map wise at least.

YEAH, looks like he took what he learned form this game an used it in there new game Chun vector, where it's the BEG stuff but works right lol.
But yeah the devs said the game's complete, although they said that they may game back every now and then for bug fixes but that would be about it and thats a big MAYBE. Which is sad cause I like the game but it still as stuff that could be fixed, like how you said the game gets weird when you BEG and I like beign big dang it :mad:

and that's not even the *only* Steam build since CV's release. The dev is active on the github, mostly accepting community bug-fixes and patches. If you join the discord there are even bigger mods you can grab, such as KKFurniture letting you have sex on furniture you can move around.

I meeeann...it's still slightly jank in Churn Vector as well...when you get big, it definitely gets a lot harder to move around, especially up stairs and through doors and stuff, and using things is a bit jank, so idk if it works totally "right" XD But for sure they probably just continued with whatever code they had and may have improved it some and could improve it further maybe.
Yeah I also think it sucks they've just decided it's "complete" but it is 100% not complete...definitely more like abandoned as said earlier....
I think at this point it would literally just take someone else just making the same game but actually complete it. And yes I also want the same thing as far as macro/micro stuff. Maybe not so much vore or stuff, maybe as optional to disable but...eh. Whatever happens happens, I just want a game like this but actually intuitive and complete and doesn't waste my time.

Well yeah XD
I would say that it's at least is better in CV for the most part, then again it's only the balls that get bigger XD
