There is a problem when MC have to go park for first time there is no option to go to park...anyone knows the solution
on big map click park.

How to ignite woods
you weren't a boyscout i guess. find something flammable things and then rub 1 wood on it near that flammable thing until it sets on fire.

Have you tried starting a new game and select start from new content?
that worked but after getting that quest can't do final quest aka meeting fiona when she's preparing for party.

I was interested in playing this game but it doesn't allow me to change the text speed. I dont have the rest of my life to wait for your text to print across the screen. Can anyone tell me how to fix this since the dev decided to remove the option from the menu?

Edit: NVM I'm dumb and missed the option. Carry on.

Jan 2024 Update: Time Moves Fast!

1707159323273.png

Hey there!

Hope your 2024 kicked off better than mine! Caught COVID at the start of the year, leading to an extended stay at my parent's place for an extra week or two. Sent the GF and kid home early! The joys of a new year!

But after all's said and done, I recovered, went back home, and dove into the dev grind (well, had to finish up real job obligations first), but I sure did grind this month! I honestly felt like a headless chicken jumping from task to task after all that time cooped up in bed. Even forgot I had to give an update.

AREAS, STORY, AND STUFF:
To start, I spent time planning and laying out the two major areas for the upcoming update – the VR World's starting town and the University. Even though I was bedridden, I still had time to develop the story. Both of these areas play crucial role and both are also quite large in scope.

With the VR Town, I used some of my old "Medieval/Fantasy" building bundles I bought from 2018-2019 when I was working on VR story for Episode 1. Checking those assets again, some fit perfectly, while others were either too "fairytale fantasy" or outright low on detail, like they were ripped from a 2009 CG budget movie. The same goes for the University/School bundles I bought. To be fair, I bought those assets when I wasn't too familiar with DAZ and Poser stuff. I've bought them because they were cheap. Honestly, they might work in the distance, but not up close. Still, this part's progressing great.

CHARACTER STUFF:
Managed to resolve my dilemma with this one, finally! When I initially converted them, I used Sickleyield's Genesis conversion on Deviantart, it's quite complicated but the final product looked somewhat okay but I think the issue lied with the Genesis 8.1 to 9 differences. When that didn't work, I bought the Character Converter script which worked quick and great! It converted morphs between the Generations, but the problem this time for some reason, is that some morphs would get converted and some didn't. It was a known bug too. I was losing my mind at this point!

What finally worked for me was exporting characters to Blender, some shenanigans with the Genesis Base models and my character, exporting that as an .obj, and using Morph Loader on DAZ to a new Genesis 8.1 character. It's quite long as well but the final product is great! No weird joint problems or morphs not existing. Hate to admit it that it took me weeks to resolve this.

PYTHON STUFF:
If character conversion wasn't a problem enough, the coding side wasn't any smoother. First, I worked on a Gallery viewer for the previous scenes. Initially, my plan was to add "flags" to go back to scenes and "jump back" to the viewer, but parsing through the long episode script annoyed me. So I ended up copy-pasting specific scenes into a new file which is easier to troubleshoot. All that's left is to make the GUI for it.

The other was the Triple Triad minigame, it's still causing me headaches. There's a blueprint on the Renpy Cookbook but I don't dig the way it looks . I wanted to add more stuff like animation, drag-and-drop, etc... that week was me going down the rabbit hole of Lemmasoft forums and Renpy documentation to solve every bug and error. I'm not that competent yet at Python, mind you, but when I fixed some of the stuff and got them working, the exhilaration was amazing! Still half-baked and scuffed for now, but I'm working on it.

SOME OTHER STUFF:
Some other stuff that took my time this month was getting into Cascadeur and learning its tutorials. The program's a beast for animation and compatible with DAZ's Genesis models so I hope to have some animated stuff soon. Also, doing some PyGame tutorials after my coding headache. Oh, I've also tweaked GUI elements (main menu buttons and the save/load/exit ones too) and during that process, I accidentally overwrote the City Map Photoshop file with a blank because I was an idiot and named it "asdfg.psd." Didn't realize it till a few days ago. I don't plan adding much to the map for now but oh boy, if I do need one, I need to recreate that.

Speaking of blunders (not of my own doing), I recently updated my DAZ 4.19 to 4.22 and that messed up all of my Ghost Lights, basically objects that use emissive lights but have opacity set close to 0, so they don't get rendered. Makes for great soft lighting which means all my lights are exclusively Ghost Lights.

Now, the newer update "fixed" it, so the lower the opacity of the object, the emissive lights did too as well. That made me panic on why all of the house rooms suddenly are now darker! A smart person would just Google a fix, which is to set the Lumens by 10 million to compensate for the opacity. A dumb person like me would start recreating the lights again painstakingly before realizing I could probably fix it (still doesn't look the same as the original). And that was the story of my past week! Ugh.

FINAL STUFF:
Anyways, that's the roundup for this month. I'll put up the first small update later this week for supporters. Primarily some fixes, GUI tweaks, and the Playbucks secret photos. Nothing big for now. By the way, if you ever pledged for the Royal Mail in the past, either comment to me here or DM on Discord. I want to update the Patreon thank you note in the game!

Hope you all have a great February!

Cheers,

Poly

Back from the Dead 2: Electric Boogaloo

I don't know what title to write with this update but Hey! It's been quite a while. I know you guys must be curious about what's been going on, so let me break it down into two parts, my life and just the game.

LIFE UPDATE:
The last time I dropped in here, I was still finishing my architectural thesis. That month was pure stress. I'd love to show you pics of my architectural model if it wasn't on my personal portfolio. Long story short, it was an International Airport inspired by Zaha Hadid and Bjarke Ingels. Did you know International Airports are WIDE and HUGE? Yeah, that project burnt me out like a motherfucker, not only that, but the scale models, the visual boards, the presentation, and the research paper with all the data. I can't say it was worth it but the final result was pretty much a chef's kiss. Got a pretty good grade for all that.

My original plan was (foreshadowing) to bum around New York and intern with BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group, or some other "starchitect" design firm. But oh boy, did I do a stupid fucking thing, I got my GF pregnant. Then I did the second stupidest thing which was to run away for 3-4 months. Yeah, don't do that, it's just cruel. Basically, a friend was asking around if anyone wanted to intern at his uncle's firm. I said no at first but changed my mind after the news. I just drove there without a plan. Like, I arrived there and forgot I had to actually stay somewhere to sleep. Ended up living for a while on that friend's parent's place. I guess the stress of having no job, a massive student debt, and committing to a family at a young age just fried my brain. I literally went off the grid on social media. I had to plead to my friend to call my parents to tell them where I was. It was a total shitshow.

Working there was probably karma, I guess? The pay was a joke and not to mention, the unpaid overtime. I'd get calls in the middle of the night for "minor revisions" because I was supposedly the "only one good at Revit" which lasted til 3AM. But what really pushed me over the edge was just the guilt. That anxiety was eating me alive daily. So, I finally decided to come back to my GF. I wasn't expecting a warm welcome with arms wide open and I sure didn't get one. I did had plates and cups thrown at me. A lot of it and I deserved each one. We eventually had a long talk and family got involved.

I wish it ended with a happy note there but after the kid was born, the stress levels ramped up to 200%. By this point, I was doing blue-collar work which was plating steel sheets and parts. Got it through a connection when I was researching stuff about building materials. I really wanted to do design-related work but what I saw paid bad and the internship still left a bad memory for me. This job paid well especially since we were still living in a college town, GF was still finishing her Nursing degree. Maybe because both of us were stressed all the time, we often get into these dumb fights for no reason. I'd go home, we'd talk about something stupid, someone gets pissed, we have a shouting match, sleep pissed off, work, and repeat the cycle tomorrow. This was around the same time last year.

Thankfully, that phase didn't last long. After she graduated earlier this year, we decided to move closer to her parents, like, just a 10-minute drive from them to help with the kid. I also wanted to quit that plating job because I was getting paranoid the fumes I constantly inhaled might give me lung cancer or something. Let me tell you, that move did wonders for our mental health. Weekends are actually relaxing now. Plus, I switched to a work-from-home setup, keeping an eye on the kid while she works. Sure, my earnings took a hit, but living in a low-cost area and her having a job now balances things out. Now that I've got free time, I slowly dived back into learning Blender, Daz, Photoshop, and Python again. And that's the roller coaster of my past couple of years. Now, on to the updates.

GAME UPDATE:
Where do I start? Well, this update's been cooking for a while that the narrative changes are significant enough that I'd go as far as calling it a full-blown redux. When I left this game on limbo, I'd wrapped up a bunch of stuff: overhauled the hospital scenes, got through half of Aanya's story and some sex scenes, and had Playbuck scenes that was still undrendered. The dialogue was also restructured but still retained enough of the original story beats.

Coming back, I slowly started tweaking things here and there which turned into a full-blown rewrite of EVERY dialogue. Some got better, some got tossed, and the pacing got a serious makeover. Priscilla and Fiona scenes are still intact but I did change up their dialogue. It's just that rereading some of the old dialogue made me cringe. I also added a lot of new VFX and SFX work. The last update, had just around 100 sound effects. This update, I added around 240+. There's also the new animated Pixel Art scenes, the new splash screens, and the revamped menu and selection screen. As I got into the groove, I just added stuff that would "improve it". I don't know if it does but I just had to.

Originally, this update was focused more on Aanya's story, but I got sucked into revamping the main plot that I didn't know where to put her story yet. So, her finished renders didn't make the cut and there was a lot of it. I rendered those with my old GTX 1060 and it took hours for one scene. Cutting it out was hard but it's not just for that reason, I'm also planning to redo some of Aanya's rooms and I recently started converting my old Genesis 3 DAZ character models into the newer Genesis 9. Which didn't turn out that great. Got some morph and bone issues, especially around the neck area. The textures also need some tweaking. If Genesis 9 doesn't work out, I might stick back to Genesis 8.1. That's why this update lacks a new set of Playbucks because of that but I plan to add them in the next update. For now, this update's sole focus is fleshing out the main story moving forward.

Speaking of updates, I don't intend to do another big update drops that takes MONTHS until I "perfected" it. Instead, I'm opting for monthly builds, sharing what I've achieved in that month rather than hoarding it. So if I finish a new area or rework some UI elements, just small updates basically, I'll release it exclusively to my Patreon for a while and if there's been significant story elements finished, a big public update following after. This will come in handy as the next update will require A LOT of newer areas. Not just "real life" spots but also virtual reality stuff like its own world map, villages, dungeons, and big medieval cities. I'm also planning to implement more scenes with Fiona and Prii at the house and finally make a schedule of interactions with them. Some GUI improvements are on the horizon too. I also made a lot of stuff that didn't get it in time for this December release, including a Triple Triad game when I was relearning Python but that's still barebones. But overall, with the free time I got now, I'm planning to finish the game, finally.

Anyway, I'm sorry to those who I left hanging for a bit. Life sometimes tosses an enormous responsibility on your way and you just gotta man up and carry that load. Thanks for your patience and here's to more exciting stuff. I'll probably be back after the holidays.

Cheers,

tl;dr - final thesis work, got GF pregnant, running away & going dark on socials, shitty job, having a kid
What a crazy fucking story man.
Mad respect for actually coming back to this project!

And why did it take so long?

Maybe learn a few things before trying to make yourself sound clever ;)
I didn't think my comment was clever, just an observation. The past tends to be a good predictor of the future, in game development terms, I have found.

I am sure I read the dev's reasons at some point, but honestly all the reasons for the various devs to pause their games for multiple years tends to run together in my mind these days.

No knock on the dev, he doesn't owe us anything. Whatever his reasons, glad to see he is starting it up again. But I don't see this as a rapidly updated game. If you think regular timely updates are in this games future, then great. We will all see.

It's hard to tell, TBF. I don't remember any of the original releases (either v0.02 or v0.03) being fast at all. In fact, IIRC there was a considerable amount of time (averaging 6 months?) between releases. From what Polyrotix' latest update said, he's in a very different RL situation now, one that sounds like updates could be more frequent and steadier. That said, even if you believe Polyrotix now (I'm somewhat iffy myself), life can still always get in the way. So while I wouldn't necessarily assume a huge delay between updates, that doesn't mean I'm convinced monthly or even bimonthly updates are going to be a regular thing going forward. We'll just have to see how things progress.

4-5 years (even less depending when this got abandoned) up to 0.04 so around 1 update per year.

Uh...Oh. Likely abandoned again?

View attachment 3467787
IDK about "likely". It depends on how he handles the stress and if he moves forward. There have been some devs whom life seems really to have screwed over in the past (R.I.P. Chatterbox), so this very well could be another one of those cases. I'll reserve my judgement / assumptions until some more time has passed since this.

Yep, I think we can expect great things from daddy Poly moving forward, no doubt :KEK:
