No. It's quite literally just replacing (text A) with (text B). It's only ever as difficult as you want it to be, so the scope of the change you want to make.
The only thing you have to look out for is syntax and parsers. So stuff like adding a backslash before all quotation marks and apostrophes, or making sure all of your brackets are properly closed.
Everything I learned is by straight up copying and tweaking existing code, like working with flags, functions, operators, etc.
Any existing functionality can be copied over from other characters who have it, though that requires a bit of searching and a lot of trial-and-error so I primarily stick to changing dialogue, the more complex stuff I'll leave to actual modders.

Hey everybody, I repurposed a modloader named KittyPatcher from Course of Tempation to Corruption of Champions 2, that makes modding this game easy, painless, and flexible. It works like a traditional game modding system where all mod files are put in a mod folder, a script is launched, and it mods the game for you. Me and Azriel are working on making it as update proof as possible (although it is already update proof for many mods you'd be making).

All mods released and developed for this game have been updated and integrated using KittyPatcher. So you can get all COC2 mods from one place using one easy method.

FYI, if someone if having trouble running python by just clicking on the .py file, right click folder and open in terminal. type "py" tab to autocomplete python. Then type "Kitt" then tab to autocomplete the Python file name. Hit enter and it should work correctly.
