For those having a problem with the Mac version:

First, it has NOTHING to do with the .rar compression. It has to do with some incorrect permissions on a couple of files in the application. Jad1239 has the fix. I'm retyping it here, because there was a minor typo in his fix.

1. Open the Terminal app, then enter the following in the terminal (don't enter the quotation marks):
2. "cd <game directory>". For example, if you put the game in /Applications/RenPy, "cd /Applications/RenPy"
3. "cd Vis.app/Contents/MacOS". This takes you to a directory inside the game application.
4. "chmod +x Vis". There's a file here called "Vis" that doesn't have permission to execute. This makes the file executable.
4.a. "ls -al Vis" will show you the permissions on the file if you are interested.
5. "cd lib/darwin-x86_64". This navigates to the second file with bad permissions.
6. "chmod +x Vis". This fixes the permissions on the second file (which is also called Vis).
7. Exit Terminal. All fixed!

Last time I had this issue. I just DL the mac version on my PC and uncompressed it there, and then play it on the mac. It was solved...
Same with other games...

If the file was originally compressed as an rar file on Windows, the expanded on a unix platform, including mac os, the permissions can change. This is a known bug in some rar compression tools, not the format itself. That's why a lot of rar'ed games don't have any problems on the mac.

I didn't get a think of what you said xD
But if you have a "magic" software or uncompression procedure to be able to unrar on mac, you'll be my (and OSX community) hero! :D

PS:
Now that Steve is dead, I really think Mac is just some overpriced dump... :/

No magic tools, unfortunately. Sometimes there are no problems and sometimes there are. The decompressing the .rar on Windows DOES work, I'm just saying that the root of the problem isn't in the compression algorithm, but the tools.

That said, it would be nice if people stopped using rar and stuck to zip, gzip, and tar, which work fine everywhere.

I am starting to think that Mac is like the Twin Peaks. It is something different then it should be, with a mind of its own, where the people (users) are merely subjects for the history to be written. If I am ever to buy Apple I am going to put this song when the user will log in.

I have to say this is by far the best game I have found on here and truly looking forward to where this goes. The story line does seam a little rushed in events and could make for a greater story with more events but still it is a good one. This has the potential to be something amazing. But just my thoughts, word of advice, taking advice is good but it already seams you have a great vision of where you want the game to go. Hold to that.

Is the current version 0.5 correct?
Usually the development completed version is 1.0.
Considering the current progress of this game, I think the 0.05 version is correct.

PS:
I really like the story of this game and I think the quality is really high.

Hi mate,

Yes, the version is correct and I don't think that the game will stop at 1.0. It will stop when oblivion will meet paradise.

Cheers

I keep on getting error screens because of an error in the script, basically every time the mc is talking.
Does anyone else have the same problems?

Heya, thanks for the quick reply!

I already found the source of the error: Continuing with the old saves from Version 0.10.
Restarted the whole story from new, works smoothly now!

2 things i didnt like:
whats with the gaps between events ? MC is out with his sister, then stuff happening with other characters and when we are back with MC, he is training with his bodyguard. when i think about it, maybe its a memory but i didnt notice it being shown somehow.

whats with the characters addressing eachother with their family relations. yeah i get that she is your sister/mother, no need to be told every sentence. don't know if it was fixed later or i stopped paying attention, but its was really annoying.

Hey mate,

The gap will be filled as the game will progress and all things will make sense. Regarding the relationships, the person that is taking care of the proofreading will do a full review starting from this month. I decided to invest the money from Patreon for review on the chapters that didn't have any person to take care of the proofreading.

Thank you for your feedback!

Cheers

So true! (y)
It's the only significant thing i don't like(it sounds so wrong, i like this game, and a lot ) about the game as for now. Just didn't know how to say it, while not hurting dev's feelings... :ROFLMAO:

It's really kinda story breaking (in a hard way): 1) mc gets back from death, you've got visit from M and one S, waiting for a visit from the other S(it would be logical at the very least), but no...BAM! :p Several monthes of drinking in bars later...

2) After saving that strange girlie from the witch you're expecting to get back to the castle with S, taking care of the girlie and so on, but no...BAM! :p Some absolutely different events happens and the next thing going on is mc, out of nowhere, trying to seduce his bodyguard...
And so on, those were just two moments i remembered the best, cause they developed totally otherwise than expected...

Hi there APD13, I wanted to hop in to say your interactions here motivated me to break a personal rule and try out a game way early in its development. You seem patient, friendly, open to critique, and generally laid back, so though me playing your game is hardly a huge favor to you I still wanted to offer a show of support by whatever meager means I had available. Thanks for being cool, and keep it up!

In regards to the game, if I might offer my humble critique, I have to say I am highly optimistic. As others have pointed out, there are some slightly jarring timeskips (though you have assured us all vital details will be explained, so I am not too concerned by these). Perhaps they might be a little less jarring if there was some indication a timeskip was about to happen? A slow fade-to-black, or some transition effect like the "..." that shows up in other games? Just a thought. There are some grammar mistakes (specifically I recall a few verbs not in the proper tense) but nothing so egregious it pulls you out of the story. And I would have liked to have seen the witch stabbed or beheaded or however it was we dispatched her, rather than simply see "you killed her and left." It's a cool moment that feels anticlimactic, especially since we don't really see the fight beforehand. Otherwise... that's it for critiques! So far, your renders are beautiful, your characters are alive, and your setting is engaging (cool map effect to indicate travel, by the way). I especially like Morrigan and Wilfried, and I suspect once I've spent more time with her I will like Liliana as well. Oh, and I really love the opening music!

All in all it seems like you've undertaken a boldly ambitious project, and I really hope you understand how much that is appreciated. Many will warn you not to bite off more than you can chew, but as far as I'm concerned "go big or go home" is a more fitting line. Please keep up the excellent work; don't burn yourself out, obviously, but also don't let yourself stop if possible! You've built some great momentum and an exciting world to explore, and for my small part I am really excited to see what comes of it. I hope you have a great day and again, thanks for being cool! I'm glad I gave this an early shot!
