You know that constant attacks on the developers is one of the biggest reasons for their burnout right?

True creators block is a thing!
But you have to remember that people kinda pay this guy every month to deliver a product.
If he doesn't deliver people will be mad.
Pandemic Had to be rough to.
This guy could be battling almost anything and we wouldn't know anything about it.
I wish he would be more straight forward and tell us a good reasonable reason why the update was so small despite there being 1 year time laspe!

It better be a good one too.

Well, I may be wrong, but I always though that a burnout was a mix of stress/pressure and overwork. And.. well, at least there's no risk of overwork here ^^

ps : But let's say that it's the case, why wouldn't he just say that he's in "bad health" and that the progress will be slower instead of throwing a dumb excuse after another.

I mean Imagine pumping out content every month could burn you out.
Alot of nights go into coding that could potentially cause creators block.
He has to write the story make sure it makes sense and engaging otherwise people will be disapointed with the new update.
Its alot of stress being a game devoloper.
I'm not justifiying his actions or anything all I'm saying devoloping a game and writing a good story can be difficult you will reach certain point where you just don't know where to take the story.
I wish if that was the case he would be more honest with the situation. Tell people HAY theres going to be a game delay! I have creators block! Or hay I'm taking a break! I will be back this specific month because im burnt out!

Yes but he doesn't every month.... last update took 8/9 months this one took 11/a year, he has 1500 patrons with that amount of money hes getting for maybe an hour a week of work is ridiculous, if i had the same financial support this man does i would be able to pump out a few games in the years this one has been taking (but i don't ergo i can't develop games because i actual need to work for my money) And lets not forget these "renders" aren't even custom either! (its been proven multiple times hes gets them elsewhere)

Have you seen his next goal? 2.6k subs he'll actually hire someone.... lets assume every sub is on the $3 plan (which they aren't) 3/2.6k = $7,800 per month! he could already hire a small staff but he doesn't.... Most of us work are asses off 8 hours a day everyday to make 2k a month....

What even funnier look at Lains mod that came hours after this update... has more work put in it then this update does

More like he can work as slow as he want, and patreon can chose to subscribe if they want, not really our problem, but..
The excuses.. Seing Irphaeus being all "I'm working really hard" "I'm doing my best" "I almost finished, just a bit of polishing left" -> "Oh, sorry, a bug, see you next month" "Oh, that took more time that I planned" "The quality demands that I take more time" ...
How can you go from almost finished to "I need 2 more month" or "I will split the update in 2 because I don't have enough time?" U_u
And what bug? The only thing that could happen in this particular Ren'py game is that he mixed up the image to display, how could that take 1 month to fix ?
And while the game enjoyable and the scene kinda good (There's at least a little bit of work with HS in the meaning that I think the visual is a bit better that the default game, but it could come from a mod), there's nothing formidable about it either (The worlds is somewhat "normal", so there's not really any work to do there, he "only" have to do the plot)

The thing is, first, the last update before this one did take much more time that it should have right? People already complained then, and.. he became even slower? Each time he say he will make sure to improve his work time, he does worse.. But well, let's say that he's just really bad at typing the keywork "scene" followed by the name of the image to display in ren'py...

Complex? It's a linear visual novel, it can't get simpler than that right. You can't even make a case with the karma stuff, since that doesn't do anything.

There's many game where's there more work on this forum? But this one? Even lain's mod is more complex that the game itself.
I would know what's "complex" about this game? The only "complex" thing is the phone app (That doesn't do anything appart from displaying a small summary about the character. (I already proved somewhere in this thread that someone that never used Ren'py nor Python (like me) could "develop" that phone app in 8h (And I think I was particularly slow), well, it was ugly as hell since I don't know a thing about making something good looking, but anyone can do it)
I can understand that the art part can take time, but for one part he is using HS with the minimum of effort he can (If i'm not wrong, all the animation are HS stock animation, I don't know about the poses, well, he's at least using mods I think to make the game looks better)
But there's nothing "complex" about the game part. He's making the most lambda Ren'py game :
- display an image with the keyword "show" or "scene" followed by the name of the image
- branching -> You put the keywood "label" followed by an identifier and use the keyword "menu" (Yes, the choice menu is already in Ren'py), then put the phrase to display and "jump" followed by the identifier -> You got your branching (There's only that since branching to this day doesn't have any impact at all on the rest of the story).

-> So explain to me why he sometimes take month to correct a bug when there's litteraly nothing that could go wrong apart from synthax or a wrong image?

And the story, well, it's enjoyable, even through it's nothing formidable, there's no real problem with it and it read well (There's a story, you feel that it's more that just the sex scene at least), I'm probably unable to write even something like that, but there's no "complicated world setting", he "only" have to follow his plot in a "modern" world, and while he's doing a somewhat good job, it still doesn't explain the year between updates ^^

No I haven't Infact I can see where this guys coming from and see why hes so stressed INFACT I was auctually Consider becoming a patreon to support next month as thats when I get paid so please Take YOUR attitude somewhere else I go on to say that this guy is in charge of a very popular game.

Me Being a newbie has nothing to do with my opinion dog the idea that your logic is oh he just registered to the site and he knows nothing because hes new is piss poor ideology.

Or slower process due to covid as alot of stuff was affected by covid 19

I'm going to meme on the simple fact I can't use my saves because it is frustrating I have to go through the story a 2nd time.

This game really one of the best games for me.....i played like it 3 to 4 times from the start to try all the routes i want to play....
1. the game story is the best out there for me it really is interesting and unpredictable i love it
2. every single girl from this game man i love the characters and their own story-lines
3. MY favorite well i love them all but these three i like the most first mc's mother Tomoe.....second mokoto.....& third sheila

4. this is the one and ONLY thing that i don't like more like i'm confused and i hope dev improve is the relation between mc and his mother.......(the dream where mc forced himself on her mc it really is fucked i mean no dis-respect to people who like that but i would love to see a loving relation between mc and his mother tomoe....) i get that he suffers from his past and wants revenge BUT every time whether in presence of mc or talking to someone other in game tomoe seems to herself be confused about her situation of why she leaved mc in past....she really shows she cares for him whenever mc or any other says you leaved him she said no & IN THIS latest update i tried both options with tomoe in talking when she says to eat food to mc in 1. she is talking more like shows feeling for mc & in 2. when mc tried to be a little forward with her she slapped and said she didn't wanted what happened in the past on why she leaved him....(this got me more intrigued by her & mc story line because even before she started having feelings for mc she definitely shows her care towards him by asking sheila to ask if he need food earlier in game & when he confronted her earlier about sheila independent she said she lost him in past which gets more confusing i love the story line with mc and his mother..........i think it has something to do with zaibatsu corp. because when mc was going to steal phone of shirohime he saw the no. of george on her..not only zaibatsu was involved in destroying mc's father but also his family......i think george with the help of zaibatsu (aka shirohime) did something in past to sabotage the relation between mc and his mother tomoe...not only that but i think he is also cheating on her with someone(the phone talk with her and george when mc found out he constantly ask what is he doing while he being away...) this latest update only help in the confirmation of this....by adding the clan story line with explain the situation with rachel and mc's father past (this explains the mythical presence in the game ).....& most importantly on why she also seems herself to be confused about her and mc past (accordind to her she lost him & according to mc she leaved him)....which leaves the only option that george with help of shirohime aka zaibatsu corp did something to completely sabotage mc's father and his family.....the BEST thing i hope and look forward is when dev apply karma system and our mc can be lovable towards tomoe instead of revenge type....i really want to see a loving relationship between our mc and tomoe ...can't wait when tomoe and mc story-line gets an update...

What routes ? It's not really a route when nothing change at the end of it ^^ You just maybe see another scene but it doesn't as of now have any impact, so you could just have scrolled back a bit to test things ^^ (Unless you do something like a "RP route" for yourself ^^) Well, as long as you got a blast ^^
As for the mother, all I got is that when MC father was accused, she left without him (And in that latest scene, I think MC say something like when the mother was leaving, she said that she didn't want to bother with MC, but I may be wrong)
