I really like a lot of the art in this game, but every time I come to play it it's buggy as hell and barely holding together. Has the game been improving bit by bit, or is it just adding more content as time goes on?

The glowing item in image 4 is one of the items you need. There's an exit on the left side of the main room that leads to a linear path. At the end of it is another glowing item. Get both items, then go to the spot in the first two images and interact with the glowing object there to move on.

I'm confused. Am I supposed to corrupt the NPCs?
I can't tell if it has routes, when I choose to surrender I just got a scene and also level up much faster.

Should I surrender to every enemy to get a different scene? I can't tell what I can or should do in this game.
I don't care about doing a purity run, I want to see scenes but it seems that surrendering makes the game too easy.
