It seems that the dev has no plans to release the game to the public. In this way, he can't reach large audiences and increase the number of supporters.
The update is not even available for all patrons yet, it should probably come after that I think.

It looks like it won't be released to the public unless anyone doesn't leak it and the developer doesn't give up on this decision

Devs make such decisions in the first versions of their games, but when they see that they can't gather enough supporters with this method, they give up on their decisions. I find it quite normal for the dev to release the game early to his supporters. But not releasing it to the public when the time comes is a bad decision
