It could have gone a lot better/faster if the dev hadn't had the typical dev hubris syndrome : unnecessary sandbox, tedious management mechanics in early versions, I can't imagine the time wasted developing and debugging all this despite the fact that he works alone and a few hours a day in the best of cases.

But it's now too late to change the core + he still doesn't seem to see the elephant in the room when I see additional mechanisms planned like the “horniness meter”, or "sex shop", ect...

It's highly likely that this game will be abandoned before v1.0. It would be a real shame, this game had a lot of potential.

A lot of games that have horniness mechanics just do the "you are too horny to do anything - (forced masturbation scene)", with is kind of boring. I really like the way The Company does it, but it requires way more production, example "You find your mothers underwear in the laundry basket. Option A: Leave it; Option B: Sniff; Option C (if horniness > 75%): Sniff, inhale and stroke you cock."

This was actually the plan when I first thought about this mechanic, lol. But now, getting to 100% horniness is only meant to unlock special masturbation scenes, instead of locking you in specific masturbation events (without allowing you to do anything else).

I have never played The Company, so I can't tell you if that example is relevant or not.

It is quite confusing, but the main idea is that you insert the penis while it is mostly flat. I am not sure how this will work out in real life, but in a fantasy world (one with nice futas) this mostly erect situation where you penetrate and fuck yourself could be quite nice. With a big penis, most of it in your vagina can be stiff. - There are some videos (cartoon and 3D).

Maybe you have to train your body to make the beginning of your shaft very flexible and functional while semi-erect.

If the beginning of the game is mostly masturbation, this could be a more extreme variant where you could even get yourself pregnant.

No, there couldn't be. Alice doesn't have a vagina. Additionally, I don't even like how it looks. As Alsif has said, it just looks like it hurts, lol. Self-suck content is already in the game right now (Eve scene), and more is coming.

It's difficult to wrap your head around, I know.

I think it all depends on your perspective. A more perfect human would have a penis and a vagina, in my opinion, but I am happy that you are making great art with hopefully great game mechanics.

An other month ends, and an other one begins! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
So what have I been up to this past 10 days? Well, I've been working on the game.
That's it for today's progress report, see you in 10 days!

Okay, I'll write a proper report. But only because you're asking so nicely!
So at the beginning of the past dev cycle, I was just getting better from the flu. Those days mostly consisted of finishing the renders for the FRP scene, adding some finishing touches for the third test build, and fixing more bugs. After a couple days I released an other test version, which came back with more feedback from the testers, then I fixed all that (or most of it) and then I DIDN'T release an other test version. At this point, releasing an other test version wouldn't be productive I think. I might as well wait for all the content to be implemented.

Talking about content, that's immediately what I switched to once I was (mostly) done with fixing the bugs from the third test build. I wrote some lines for Eve's schedule variations.
Since her outfit (and overall attitude) changes after her quest is complete, she needs new variations of her scheduled events (book reading, dishwashing, breakfast, etc...), so I've been working on the dialogue, code and renders for that.

The dialogue is mostly written (only the cigarette break needs work), the code is mostly done and needs more testing, and I've completed and implemented the entire breakfast event. It's very short (3 renders), but it's going to receive some very welcome extensions in 0.6 (as many other events), when it makes sense.

Since I'm talking about renders, I know you guys will wanna get a sneaky peek. You're in luck, there's a small new avatar I can show you:

This is Eve's new morning outfit. I liked her previous one too, but this one is much lighter, and more fitting to her new personality, I think.

Priorities. What are they? I don't know. Do you? Maybe. Mine change as development moves forward and becomes clearer. An unfortunate consequence of that is that the roadmap I published a couple progress reports ago is probably already inaccurate. To be more precise, the amount of side-events might have to go from 4 to 2. Here's why:
Those schedule events I'm working on for Eve didn't seem like such a priority to me, even a couple weeks ago. Quite important, sure, but I figured they could wait for the full release of 0.5, and be absent from the initial (alpha) release. After careful consideration though, I think depicting attitude changes from the player's actions (and most importantly, apparent changes, like how the characters dress) is quite important in my game. So I think it's better if those additions are part of the initial release, so you the players get an idea of how the game will evolve right away.
Additionally, those 2 events that I'm relegating to the full release version are related to Riley, who otherwise doesn't get any focus in that update. Prioritizing the 2 sex scenes that are Eve-related makes much more sense, as she gets a whole new quest in 0.5.

Anyway. I'm sure you understand why I need to prioritize some tasks over others. It's already May, and I'm very eager to finally publish this update.

In other news, it's getting warmer here. Finding sleep is getting harder (I can't sleep unless my bedroom is at -10°C), and I predict multiple sunburns and mosquito bites to appear on my arms in a timely manner.

Progress report 10MAY

So last time, I talked about working on Eve's new event variants. At this point I'm done with the breakfast, bookreading, and cigarette break events, and I'm working on her dishwashing event as we speak. This one will take some more time as it includes a sex scene. Once I'm done with that, I'll immediately switch to her very last side-event, which is also a sex scene, and then I'll work on the variation for her jog/warmup events, and then I'll be done with all the content. I expect to be done with the dishwashing event by the next progress report, and I'll probably in the middle of working on her last side-scene. Once I'm done with all of that, it will be time for more testing, and then I'll be able to announce a release date.

Last time, I said that I would talk about a new small feature I've been working on.
This feature is "PopEvents" (that's what I called it, but I'm sure similar mechanics are present elsewhere), and they're small events (1 render, 2-3 lines of dialogue) that trigger automatically when the player walks into a room, and conditions are met. This sounds probably quite vague, so let me be a little clearer.

Let's imagine the player is horny (say, with a horniness over 80). The game assumes then that Alice walks around with a boner. Then you'll get PopEvents linked with characters reacting to said boner. Here's an example:

Here, the player would be walking in the living room with a horniness over 80. This is the kind of event that would trigger in this case.
Something you will notice is that this is the "hot" variant of the sisters watching their soap opera, when the house is warm. Those events take into account the state of undress of the spectating characters, and in the future, their horniness state. The sisters may react to Alice's boner differently if they're horny. (the girls will have their own horniness meter in 0.6).

Now this particular PopEvent is about the girls reacting to Alice's horniness state, but there can be PopEvents for any other interesting occurence around the house. If a character is dressed very lightly for example, there can be a PopEvent pointing that out.

Now at this point I'm sure many questions arise, some of which I can already foresee, so let's hold a tiny Q/A session:

Q: What happens if conditions for several PopEvents™️ are met at a given location? Say, if a character is dressed lightly AND Alice has got a boner that would cause a reaction?
A: PopEvents™️ are sorted in a list, and one is selected at random before being shown.

Q: This sounds very spammey... I don't wanna get some random event every time I walk into a room.
A: In order to avoid the spammey feeling those small, uncontrollably appearing events can have, PopEvents have an "occurence rate" that can be set by the player in the "preferences" menu. Say you enter into a room with a boner. This would normally trigger a PopEvent. But since you've set the occurence rate to 25%, this only has a 25% chance of triggering a PopEvent.

Effects are calculated sepparately from the event. Meaning that if for example walking around with a boner was supposed to increase the spectator's horniness meter, or if noticing a girl with some very light clothing on was supposed to increase Alice's horniness, it will 100% of the time, disregarding the occurence rate that you've set.

So that's PopEvents in a nutshell. I think this feature, albeit small, will increase how much the game reacts to the player's actions, and make the game a much more interesting experience as a result. maybe prioritise events that have not occurred yet and have them have a hier occurrence rate than events already encountered? What I mean by the latter is if events have a base 25% chance to occur an event yet to be witnessed would have, for example, a 50% chance to trigger.
