At the risk of looking weird, I must confess that I am, as of now, MORE interested in the background of the characters than the lewds.
-Rae mentioned being a dimensional traveller, and that she worked as an ambassador/spy between seevral factions, including the Wizarding School. She is part of some sort of Noble house in the Infernal society, and, while she doesn´t say it outright, Lady Sirena´s affection for her suggests she has high status in that House;
-Naomi doens´t have much, to be honest: she is a sailor, probably a smuggler or pirate. But she mentions (via dreams some exotic places she has been;
-Caitlin is a student of a respected wizaring school: We don´t know anything about her student status, but we know that 1- that is one of the most important (if not THE most important) Wizarding school in the Multiverse; to the point rae mentions that yes, even though the School is an enemy to the Infernal Realms, they can´t afford to destroy it. Also, it seems that the wizards of the School are starting to suspect something unusual is happning in town, with all of your dreamwalk visits, and your every increasing number of encounters with mages/magical/weird people.
-Lyriel is the one with the richest backstory so far: Apparently, there is at least one sovereign nation of Elves in that world, and it seeming is in the middle of a cultural revolution; the xenophopic, anti-human faction (the elven aristocracy?) and the faction that seems to be integrated in human culture (elven commoners?). Judging by Lyriel´s first banter with her aunt, those 2 factions are either at the brink of a civil war, or just finished one. Aditionally, while Lyriel seems to be born as nobility, but got herself exiled later (she starts out 1- extremelly arrogant, and haughty, 2- appears to be ashamed of her aunt being an inkeeper - or maybe a sex worker? - and being dependant on her and 3- somehow, Lyriel folks haven´t educated her in any kind of skill whatsoever: Her aunt mentions that she can´t hunt anything, as opposed to some of her customers (presumably human), she starts out considering simple *reading* as below her, and, later in the game, displays a frankly ridiculous amount of satisfaction and sense of acomplishment for doing... cleaning... which is, arguably, THE most basic, unskilled form of work.
Yeah, I just hope the girls background keeps being updated, expanded uopon, and integrated in the game´s story. IMHO, thats one of the main elements that st this game so far above the rest.
Kudos to the development team.
