if the main character really loved rae, he would not let her do it. If it turns out that way, it's a bad, terrible, and stupid ending, and nothing you can say will change my mind. (*and i'll knock 1 star off the games rating in my review if that happens)
I don't want to change your mind. I'm just expressing my subjective opinion on that kind of ending. So far we don't know MC's plans for his own future...or i don't remember them, so far MC is learning etherwalk to find a way home...and at the beginning he wants to go home...but now? He lives in a magic house who produces/teleport food in the fridge, he has access to unlimited money if he ever wants to shop for luxury/pleasure, he has a home that it's literally NO-WHERE xD meaning that he doesn't have to pay taxes about it. The house itself conjured a backyard with a pool. There is a library filled with books, the living room has a tv that works. Personally, i would sell my soul just for the house itself, add to the mix a bunch of wholesome people...and it's basically my dream: a peaceful life surrounded by people i enjoy spending time with XD
Let me put it this way, you are a demon, immortal, magical being, with endless amounts of time to go and see and do anything you want. You meet someone from another world who has vast magical power to travel to practically anywhere they want, and they can create complex items out of thin air, and you choose to give that up for... Tall buildings?!?! What sort of idiot would EVER make that choice?!

I cut everything else out, because this is the key word. She's immortal, and (as far as we know, right now) he isn't. That could change. For all we know there is no way to ever completely leave the house, or maybe no one ages in the House and everyone that choses to stay can live together forever. Enough time hasn't passed in-game for us to know and if it has been mentioned, I missed it.
The whole 'growing old' thing is entirely optional and definitely NOT a foregone conclusion when dealing with powerful mages. Again - a lack of creativity.
Although I must say, the instant I saw the story headed this way several updates ago, my interest in this game dropped precipitously.

The only reason I post anything at all in a thread is if I like the game and want it to improve. I can get a bit rough however, (likely a product of my demonic heritage
) When I see something I don't like, i rather unapologetically let people know that I don't like that thing. And in this case it particularly bothers me because I actually care about where this game goes with it's storyline. And yes, you do catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I may have let my frustration at this particular type of storyline get the better of me. It really is a very over-used plot type, I want better!
I don't want to be nitpicky, but routine/boredom/depression/etc. can hit everybody and all of these reasons are very individual. It's just like with a lot of money or fame in today's world, which is something many people would kill for and which could indeed actually provide most of the things you mentioned, yet some who have it really aren't happy, either, even though they have objectively every reason to be.

You sure one can and should argue about details, game mechanics, etc., but I'm usually pretty much against telling devs what kind of story they should write, as it usually actually makes games worse and in the worst case makes a dev lose his motivation to even work on the game. It's good if a dev has a vision for his game and sticks to it.

creative types can be fickle. But ultimately, it's about money because everyone has to eat (and these days, typically money is used to get food). They want money, so they make a thing and sell it. If people don't like that thing, they won't make money. So input about a storyline change that improves the story is usually a good thing, because - money.
