To put it another way. The last time Yona got a story update was, what, two maybe nearly three years ago? Meanwhile we've gotten nearly 4 straight months of the alchemy minigame.
Can you see how frustrating the filler at the cost of content can be?
I already understood the issue. But I also know that Caitlin's 'heist' related arc had been running since then. It was primary focus, and it's pretty obvious that they had to do a lot of background work to make that happen. The same is true of what we saw of Rae's two months of updates. (I would've been fine with her in front of whatever room telling me things, but they chose this approach, and other than noting that it probably ate into dev time, I'm not complaining.)
That releases don't appear to synchronise with the work being done is the nature of the kind of release they're doing. I'd imagine a lot of people would get upset if they moved to a quarterly update schedule. Many/most of the sex scenes seem to use common/premade animations, so the work to render those out would be lower than posing Naomi's crew, or Yona's village. To that end, I don't really care too much about those things. As I've written a few times now, I half expect some of what they're doing with the chemistry/alchemy nonsense to have some meaning/value later, but even if it doesn't, if it's what the Patreon backers/community wants, it's what'll happen.
Personally, I'd rather the sex scenes have more value tied to the story content, but it is what it is.
