Anybody have any idea why the game tries to connect to the internet? I play offline, when i was scrolling through the ahitr.log file I noticed:
LEVEL1: Loading JSON data and checking cache...
LEVEL1: Error loading data: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='ahitr.net', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /special/events_rift.json (Caused by NewConnectionError('<urllib3.connection.VerifiedHTTPSConnection object at 0x000[removed incase personal]>: Failed to establish a new connection: [Errno 11001] getaddrinfo failed',))
removed the numbers since I don't know if it is personally identifiable. Anyway I think the game may be trying to connect to something related to its timed special events but I'm not sure. The game runs fine offline, its not a crash log.

Edit: It's for ads/'events' on the Patreon/Itch, letting people know what's going on (see my post two below).

Thanks! I'm assuming it doesn't affect regular play in any way since the game still plays fine offline and I recall triggering halloween and christmas game events offline. I guess its a news feed for their artbooks and other supporter packages.

I get my version through itch.io, so I do launch it in online mode. I've only ever seen it used to advertise real world events (sales and the like), and a few images, and I can't remember what they were for.
I ran it through unren to have a look, and it looks like the events are just ads. There's a news module, but it doesn't appear to go through the game itself. (Weird choice, but fair.) So it shouldn't have an impact. (I'll edit the above to correct for my bad assumption.)

I wouldn't say there's necessarily little sexual content, but a lot of it looks same-ish or is very vanilla.
The story is really slow and also boring as fuck.
After actually giving it a fair chance, I ended up unlocking the gallery and deleted the game after to save space.
There's quite a bit of sexual content with each female character, is it world-shatteringly extensive? No, just pretty typical stuff at this point.

This game is something like "slices of life". A guy lives with several women in a house. Most of the content are mundane scenes with them, more than a real plot. It would be Ok if those scenes were actually funny and interesting. Problem is, most of them are silly and childish filling material. Yeah, there are regular updates every month or so, but the plot and subplots barely advance. Characters doesn't have a development, their relationships barely develops too, and the MC (by dev's choice) is a faceless log with cero personality and backstory, impossible to feel identify with him. Actually, I don't know why the Lis could feel some kind of interest about him, since I, as a player, don't feel any. About sexual content, it's always the same boring vanilla content for all the Lis. And there's a succubus in the house! But cero fetishes or any kind of kinky stuff.

Did they change writers or something? The dialogue after a certain point feels like it's written by a different person and the quality fell off a cliff. All the girls use to have strong personalities, but now they all sound the same with a slightly different vocal quirk. Not to mention how sterile it feels, just getting from point A to B with none of the flavor it use to have.
Sucks, because I love this game and Rae is by far my favorite VN LI

There's plenty of sex, people are mostly just buttmad that their particular fetish didn't show up.
In terms of story, though, I'd say the best metaphor would be "It's like being in a racecar on a straight, empty highway, and for the first ten or so seconds you hold the petal to the floor... And then you lift your foot off the pedals entirely and just let it roll down the road"
The story starts off really strong and goes hard, but somewhere along the way it's kind of just... Stopped going. We're still technically moving but nowhere near the velocity and excitement we did before. Instead of flying down the highway we're just idling along, coasting on the momentum of the previous. All the pieces are still there, the devs just seem disinterested in keeping it chugging.
At least it's still updating, so it's worth giving it a chance. But it's not as tightly designed and focused as one of the greats like MIST.
