VN - Ren'Py - Completed - A Knight's Tale [v0.36 SE] [Neverlucky]

I really want to like this game but......

I am playing this game after playing the Dev's previous gameane, Triangle. I really enjoyed that game,; a nice sweet simple game.
I had very high hopes for A Knights Tale. The early scenes held promise, Medieval setting, a Knight, possible court intrigue, all the ingredients for an interesting story filled with adventure and sex.
Yes, the characters looked and acted similar but I figured it was the Dev's style. However by the 1/4 point into the story it all felt very similar. By the midway point a Knight's Tale feels like a rehash of Triangle.
Maybe there will be more twist and turns to the story but as if the current update 0.15. It us basically the same game. Characters look, act and talk the same. Asides from the "my lord" none of the characters act like they are in medieval times. The characters actions and dialogue clashes so much with the setting that it's difficult (for me anyways) to fully engage.
It feels like a bad period drama.
While there is nothing wrong with a sweet simple vanilla love story , I for one admit to loving Triangle. A Knight's Tale currently does not work.

I give up. I kept waiting and hoping for something to happen in this game but there has been almost ZERO story development. Every update is the same for all the characters, wake up, go to the hot tub, spend the day doing nothing, go for dinner, sex and repeat.
Zero character development, zero story development and the same dialogue (it feels almost cut and paste).
In 16 there was actually a story plot development, intrigue against the king by MC's master and his squire's (and lover's) father. But the dialogue showed an utter lack of gravitas. Instead if concern, dialogue was basically....he's a smart man, no need to worry and let's go fuck.
Of course no follow up development in V.17.
The dev really needs to add a plot element into the game as the characters and the current dialogue is not interesting enough to keep rehashing every update. Go research a fantasy novel and do a cut and paste job if lacking writing ability.
I discovered this game at V15, now it's V.17 and I don't know if I'm going to stay around much longer.
I really really wanted to like this games and had high hopes for it

Art's nice, characters are cute. Faces are a bit wonky but that's more common than not with 3d render software.

Writing is very strong; voice and fluency are great and the characterization is compelling. Scenario isn't brand new but still handled well and I really appreciate the MC not being a creep or super asshole. The pacing *may* be a bit unsteady at times with skips, periods where the relationships evolve slowly and then suddenly rush ahead, but nothing earthshattering.

Porn is very good, but group/harem settings AND pregnancy do get bonus points from me so your results may vary.

TLDR: Noice! #WATCHED.

I gave it a 2 just because of the renders if it wasn't because of that I would give it a 1 .

This feels more a kinect novel than a vn, the few choices you have in game doesn't matter at all.

The Male Protagonist tag should be replaced by Female Protagonist.
Any choice you do doesn't matter, it's always the wife calling all the shots and the husband goes along with it.
She pushed the husband(sorry can't say mc because doesn't feel like the mc in this history)to start something with Alice just so she could be free to be fucking with girls, the husband just agree with everything, have more lesbian scenes than straight scenes in this kinect novel.

It's boring, it's always the same, wake up, breakfast, train or do paperwork, wife(the real mc) say with who she wants to sleep/fuck the husband agrees, sleep and goes to next day to repeat the same thing.

The game started nice but update after update just get worst, at the moment of this review it's 0.15 version and by far the worst update for me, so thats the end of this game for me.

Was hoping a nice game from this dev because of triangle but nop it's not even a nice game anymore .

If you like kinectic novels with female protagonist and lots os lesbian scenes you might like this game.

Renders are nice and the girls too. Really like Alice and that all.

If you expect a better game than "Triangle" from the same autor , you will disappointed because it's totally different...

I will point out the biggest flaws :

Tag "Male protagonsit" should be replaced by "Male Spectator" because whatever the choice you made doesn't matter in the story, what really matter are the wife's choices...
All you do is is follow the story like a good servant despite the MC's status in this medieval times...

If you were hoping to play a true Knight , sorry but you better pass this game...

For a game called a A Knight's Tale, the Knight is just a prop after the intro. Most of the content's rotating around his wife.
So why not call it A Knight Wife's Tale and remove the male protagonist tag?
Or hell, remove the Knight and make it a female protagonist game cause there's actually female Duchesses in medieval times and call it A Duchess's Tale.

Add to that the story is boring and worse still, LONG. Which means you're just clicking and clicking for the story to go nowhere and wishing for something to happen.

Decided to review this, so here I go.

The Good.

- I enjoy the story, it's a simple romance game. Very cute. Slower paced, but the buildup and character progression is good.
- Related to the previous, the game has something that I haven't seen in another game. The wife of MC is the primary driver of the story. I think that is interesting.
- Related to the wife, I think in addition to this being a romance game, it is also a slow corruption game. The wife has been gradually opening up one of the girls for most of the game. If you like lesbian stuff, you'll like this game. I'd say most of the sexual content is lesbian stuff. The lesbian scenes are also better written than the M/F scenes.
- Nice simple renders. I'd say they're cute.

The Bad

- MC of this game does take a back seat often, as I said above the wife drives most of the action. He is very bland and is completely unmemorable.
- Also related to that other stuff I've mentioned, the 2 younger girls, so far but it will change in the future, are more or less partnered with their respective "MC" being the wife and MC.
- As of now, this game feels more like a dual-protag game rather than a male-protag game. The dual-protags being MC and his wife as I said above. They both sort of do their own thing with their respective girl during the day, and then get back together (with or without the girls) at night.
- Medieval, but there isn't anything medieval in the game besides riding horses and training. It's the setting, not the theme, I think would be accurate to say.

TLDR: If you like simple romance games that have a solid amount of lesbian content, then you'll like this game. If you want MC to be the center of the world or prefer a lot of sexual content, then it's not for you.

3.75, so I'll round to 4.

A Knight's Tale [v0.14] [Neverlucky]

Story = The history is both good and bad, is good in the perspective of lesbian content, horrible with perspective of hetero content, there is no better way to explain, if you like lesbian content, this game is for you, if you dislike, well...is a hard pass.
Renders = 10/10th renders are one of most beautiful that i have seen, the best of all the game.
Sound = Nope, there is nothing.
Amount of content = A really good amount of content for a 0.14

Well..what are my final conclusion of the game, is bad? No, but the mc is a horrible character, he is a complete empty shell, he don't have will, he is the worst of all the game, while the lesbian content is great, have a great history, the hetero is bad, don't have love, he just there to fuck, cum a little, and end, look like the lesbian content and hetero content have been made by different people, one great and another horrible. The mc is just put in the game so he can be a "lord" in a medieval timeline, but the real "mc" of the history is Cathy (mc wife), while the mc ask, in a polyamorous relationship if he can sleep with another female, Cathy just demand, so she can fuck another girl. The game could be only lesbian content that could be 5/5, with a mc that is a piece of crap, just a Yes man, the game is poor.

Renders are great.
MC is limp and does not feel like the main character at all. He is supposed to be a medieval lord but instead he is just a puppet. A yes man. No matter what it is. It's just boring. One of the characters feels like she is being pressured into sex by the wife (she is a servant and it feels as though she is just afraid to disobey, rather than participating willingly).

The good:
I like textures and i like posing, makes scenes visually apealing.
Girls are cute and they have nice pusssies and not those flat default holes.
Theres some sex scenes, a couple of them may be interesting.

The BAD:
Just too mmuch text for the small payoff. And theres little to no character development.
The pet system makes the wife unable to fuck the squire and the mc unable to fuck the servant.
Everybody fucks the servant. Not the MC though.
Sometimes scenes are parallel, so you get a scene with mc alice, and after some scene with cathy lydia.
the redhead may fuck everything that moves and still be embarrased about everything.

theres no choices to make and mc has no blood inside his veins.

For 3gb is an absolute dissapointment, i skipped text like crazy when the couples became obvious and established.

I have mixed feelings on this game. Visuals are sweet, attractive, enticing. Writing is solid. Characters are kind of flat. MC has no sex drive/initiative to speak of, and while the wife is (for me) an intriguing character, all we see is her philosophical approach to the harem, without a lot of drive.

There is a truckload of images and text without any real conflict, challenge, or choice by the MC., before you finally get a "choice" that affects basically nothing. I tried to be asshole to the wife or to Alice, and basically nothing different happens.

I feel like I am reading one of the vanilla romantic novels that Alice likes reading, and so, despite the fetishes that the MC's wife encourages, which I could be fapping to, the no-choice story just drags through the event and it fizzles out.

Needs some conflict of emotion, some corruption or deception, some consequences.

TL;DR: It's a Neverlucky game. Definitely not bad, and I certainly quite like this game, but it's also not the most incredible game you'll ever play.

[4/5] Story: This game has extremely weak story/worldbuilding, with almost all the game happening in only one place. Instead, the game focuses on building relationships with the characters, which is where the game really shines.

[4/5] Renders: The renders in this game are not bad, but they're also not incredible. There's nothing pointing out as particularly terrible, but nothing points out as particularly great either.

So, before reading this review or trying the game, I'd like you to acknowledge something very important to understand before playing:

If you're looking for some sort of amazing story with a deep plot, this is not it. This is a wholesome romance game, in a wholesome medieval setting, with the added bonus of ass, titties, and occasional sex.

If you're okay with that, then try this game. Lydia, the cute redhead is very loveable. The wife is loyal and independent, and a sexual deviant who hungers for that lil girl puss. The MC's ward/apprentice/whatever you like to call her is a combination of all of those things, and a very well rounded love interest.

The game doesn't take itself too seriously and that's okay: it takes itself just seriously enough to invest you into the romance & characters... and if you like that sort of thing, you'll love this game.

The overall narrative and dialogue is somewhat monotone... or perhaps casual is a better way to describe it... so you won't find any deeply passionate romanticism or strong feelings, but the game doesn't pretend to be more than that, and that provides a nice change of pace from what we're used to in this genre.

The fact that people feel the need to rate this game 1-star is a bit sad to me, because I do feel that it deserves better than that (even if it's not up your alley, it's worth at least 3-stars imho).

Anyway, this game keeps me coming back, I love the characters and wholesome vibes, so I'd easily give this a 4.6 out of 5.0, rounded up, of course... and my personal recommendation/seal of approval.

I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars, and I'll list some Pros and Cons.

Pro:

The renders are nice. The sex scenes are pretty good. Some degree of buildup, and teasing. It's not written in Engrish and is understandable. The sets and scenery look pretty great, and I like the medieval theme. If it's got all that going for it then why didn't it get 5 stars then?

Con:

At some points, it feels like an absolute eternity before you get to make a choice. Click... Click... Click... Click...

When you FINALLY after a mountain of clicking reach a choice... Very few choices have any consequence to my knowledge. So if you change and go back and try another choice... Nothing really changes except maybe a different line of dialogue for almost every choice. The only times there is really anything of consequence is whether or not you want to stick it in the wife's pooper or not. If a Kinetic Novel were a 1, and GGGB were a 10 on a choices scale... This feels like a 1.5 or 2 at most sadly.

The story is a bit too 'Vanilla and Lovey Dovey" for my personal preferences. It's lacking in "Scandal" or "Corruption" or "Cheating" or "Conflict" or even a basic feeling of "Jealousy" with none of these things there is very little Tension. It's Drama without enough drama... There is no arguments with the wife, nor an ability to overstep your bounds in a perverted way to offend a girl, nor secrets or lies...

To explain what I mean by all that I will compare this script to the Film Titanic, and rewrite parts of Titanic's plot to be done in the same writing style as this game only with MMMF instead of MFFF

Titanic Rewritten in A Knight's Tale Style:

Rose is to be married to a handsome Gentleman named Cal. Cal has bought her a lovely necklace. Cal, takes his Fiance on the ship Titanic for a voyage to America. One evening on the deck of the boat Rose is out for a stroll by herself. She slips and nearly falls over the railing into the water. However another fine young gentleman named Jack catches her saving her. Cal is an important man and has a bodyguard named Lovejoy. Lovejoy witnessed the rescue and exclaims the heroic efforts of young Jack to Cal. Cal is overwhelmed with joy that this young man rescued his Rose. Cal invites Jack to stay with him, Rose, and Lovejoy in a luxury first-class suite. Jack happily accepts. Jack explains how he is a painter, and the 4 of them enjoy some tea. Jack paints Lovejoy, Rose, and Cal in the nude. They all dance around happily together. Cut away to the captain of the boat. "We have recieved a message on the telegraph that there are many icebergs about". The captain orders the ship to half speed and adds extra watchmen to keep an eye out. All icebergs are avoided. Rose, and Cal make love in their bedroom while Lovejoy and Jack are in the swimming pool. Cal suggests to Rose that she sleep with Jack as she admits she thinks he is handsome, and then the same is done for Lovejoy. Lovejoy, Jack, and Cal triple stuff Rose. Lovejoy and Jack are both declared best man at the wedding that happens shortly after the ship arrives safely at the shore. The End

This is an authentic and atmospheric knight tale story. Writing is quite pleasant so good to read. Renders are good especially the girls. The main focus of the story is a love triangle so the few main character and their connection is what important this game.

Review:
One of the worst games I have ever played, because it is quite boring. I wasted my time downloading (3.1GB) and playing. This doesn’t seem like a porn game, but an erotic romance game, it is almost 100% of this game is read-only, little sexual content (most are exhibitionism) and sex scenes are very fast and short. Anyway, I will do a short and quick review because there is not much good to say about this game, because I feel like I wasted my biggest time going to the end.
History:
If you want a romance, read a book. Most of this game is text and more text, so if you like this type of content, go ahead, if not, you have been warned.
Gameplay:
The gameplay will depend on how many hours it will take you to reach the end of the story. I took a little over an hour playing skipping the dialogs, if you read the dialogues and are interested in the story, it may take a little longer.
Graphics & Sex Content:
The graphics are simple and the renderings too. Therefore, there is nothing interesting and surprising. The girls' renderings are good, nothing much. The animations and sex scenes are also quite simple and the sexual content is almost nonexistent in this game, since most are exhibitionism, where you will see a lot of naked girls, this is cool and at the same time a bit boring since porn content is almost nonexistent, so it is quite similar to an erotic game.

So, why I did gave 1 star?
I played the previous game from this developer, I didn't like it, if you didn't like it you won't like this one either. The story of this game did not interest me, the content of that game is quite weak if we are talking about sexual content. I expected something hotter, even if it contained a simple rendering, but it seems that we have an erotic romance within a game, but not as erotic as we imagine, because the time it takes to get to some hot scene takes a little time and ends up being fast. Anyway, I don't understand how the developers create porn games like that, where the player will be reading a lot of text without being able to have fun, you know? For this game is almost 100% reading, 40% exhibitionism and 15% sex scenes, and see that they are 3.1gb of download size. So you think, "wow there must be a lot of sexual content", you're wrong. However, if you are looking for a game that contains a lot of sexual, slutty or fetish content, stay away from that game, as I don't recommend playing it.

Some animations would be great. Slow pace and not very detailed in the sexual content division. The characters are nice and very cheerful but lets get some close up and POV for sure. Little vanilla compared with Triangle.

I really do hate to leave a review like this, but after the most recent update, I feel like my hand has been forced. I want to start out by saying that I liked Triangle and this dev really does have a talent when it comes to the easy paced games of that sort. This game aims to follow that same line as an easy story with characters who love each other and have lots of fun sex.

Of course, it doesn't quite work out as well as it did in Triangle. Unlike Triangle, this is not set in the modern day, but rather in a medieval world where unlike Game of Thrones, there's no politics, intrigue, or dragons. There are however words like "awesome" and there are plenty of vanilla sex scenes that could make it onto HBO.

The biggest issue I have with this VN is there is literally no story. Triangle had a story. It wasn't a deep plot, but it was something. This is entirely devoid of that. In the early update, there was an intriguing set up of a petulant new king that we clearly have our doubts about. That would've been a good backdrop for a great story. Instead, it appears to have been completely dropped and forgotten in favor of the horny wife trying to get her some of her boyish handmaiden. Nothing wrong with that, but apart from that, what is there? I've stuck with it as long as I could, but there's just no reason for this to keep going as far as I can tell. Cathy has seduced her handmaiden and you've seduced your student. What's left? Neverlucky is a good dev who has done a good VN. But this one isn't it.

Fantastic game. Some may not like this game because it isn't super dramatic and the fate of the world isn't at stake. But that's not what this game is about. It's a nice lowkey story that gives you and warm fuzzy feeling and is comfortable. You don't have to be worried that something terrible is going to happen to one of your favorite characters or anything like that. The pacing is excellent, there's a slow enough burn so that you have that all important emotional attachment to the characters before the real sex scenes happen. But at the same time it’s not super slow to where you’re waiting forever for any actual scenes and just continually blue balled release after release. I also have to bring up how damn good the developer is. I have played and tracked the development of hundreds of different games on this site, and there is not a single developer I've come across who is as consistent as Neverlucky. He manages to put out an update every single month without fail. There's none of those times where the dev just drops of the face of the earth for months at a time. And none of the constant excuses onto why an update hasn't come out yet. He stays in contact with his patrons through the entire course of development during the month and gives regular updates on his progress. It's hard to overstate how much better this makes the entire experience of playing the game. It's great knowing basically exactly when the next update will come out. And I'm sure for his patrons the professionalism is greatly appreciated. It's nice to see a dev who takes his patron seriously and consistently follows through with everything he says he is going to do. I have been playing and following this game since its first release and there is not a single update I haven't enjoyed. The renders are pretty good I would give them about an 8/10 and all of the girls are super cute and have their own charm. They are also pretty well written, you don't have to worry about any engrish popping up here. If you want a nice, happy story with low stakes, cute girls and hot scenes you could certainly do far worse than this game. I would highly recommend A Knight's Tale and I look forward to all of the future updates for the game, along with whatever Neverlucky decides to make next!

Yikes. I liked Triangle by the same creator, but that one actually had some writing that piqued my interest leading up to enticing situations. This game I feel little connection to the wife or house servant, and maybe some for the squire.

On top of that, there's little conflict, LOTS of text to click through with almost no real reason to because it doesn't really go anywhere, and it's a super slow lesbian-like burn. The girls get more into each other but they collectively don't really get more into you, and that's a big problem as to why it's uninteresting.

Besides that, there's been 12-13 updates to this point based on the version (?) and there's little sex scenes besides mostly oral. Even the actual 'sex' scenes are recycled at different points during the game. I swear I was clicking through this game for what felt like an hour or two and at that point I got impatient and downloaded the gallery mod only to find that if I kept clicking I wouldn't be rewarded with much else except for some oral.

Super disappointing. Unless you have a fetish for reading lovey dovey text boxes, I'd skip this one.

I see this hasn't been rated very high but overall after playing through it I would say its a nice easy going relaxing game and I kind of enjoyed the overall story so far. I can't say it's the top of the game list but it was much better that some of the other ones I have played through that were ranked much higher.
