I did another playthrough of this game last night from the start and again I am a little confused.
You say there will be consequences of our actions. That is clear. I did a play though where Fred Is an asshole and cheats and also where Fred is not an asshole and cheats and there really isn't any difference either in Mary's actions or dialogue.
Also at a couple of points early in the game Fred suspects Mary of cheating now in one play through after this suspicion I allow Fred to cheat. When he confronts Mary about it she denies that she cheated and Fred believes her. Yet where Fred cheats apart from with Lexi, Mary has no hard evidence yet if Fred denies that he cheated she doesn't believe him.
Just like Fred only had the word of Zoey and also Mary's diary Mary only has the word off Jazz and whomever told her about Kelly. Also I did look into the trust and lust scores and it doesn't seem to matter what theses scores are as to what consequences there are.
Will admit, we have not utilized trust, lust, asshole as much as we could have so far in the game, There were some instances where it was used, but not too many so far. We had quite a few different dialogues and paths just depending on who Fred cheated with, and haven't felt it necessary to use those to make even more paths/dialogues. Also, those will come into play in the end game scenarios, which was always intended, to determine outcomes for the different paths, and how things work out in the end.
Whenever Fred has cheated, Mary has been told, or found out in some way, soon after the cheating took place. She had suspicions, and these were then confirmed.
For Zoe, it happened in the house, or right in front of her (pool, restaurant bathroom) if Fred went to Zoe's room, while we didn't show it, Mary could hear what was happening.
With Kelly, she was told, and had no reason not to believe the story.
Jazz, why would she not believe the woman who just sucked and/or fucked her husband.
Lexi, you know why.
Rachel, the fiance called Mary. This could have been out of spite from him, but Mary knew he was there at Rachels house, so again, why wouldn't she believe him.
Fred on the other hand, may or may not have believed Zoe when she told about Jeremy, but Zoe left clues that she was lying. (Mary and the orgasm) and a way for Fred to verify it didn't happen.
We also don't show anything Fred isn't aware of, so there are other things that Mary may have done to verify these things, which Fred, and therefor the player, don't know.
