It feels like the creator only thought through half of the story and now doesn't know how to finish it. Why are the two villains suddenly so weak and not five steps ahead like they usually are? What was the point of freeroam anyway? It didn't contribute anything to the gameplay. Apart from wasting time because the map is confusing since everything looks almost exactly the same and you lose track very quickly. The time between updates and new content is also very disproportionately weak when you look at other games.

Mhmm, I can't tell you what the exact problem is. Checking the error code there is this suggestion which did help a few people:

Other threads I found suggest that the problem might be a outdated graphics driver.

Can you open this folder and send me the log files in there, maybe I can find something in there:
%userprofile%\appdata\locallow\Marvellous Lunatic\A Long Journey\

For the people that get the error something along the line:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005).

This is because the newer Unity version doesn't support older windows versions anymore. You need to have windows 10 or newer.

This rather annoying to be honest. I updated Unity to a newer version to get around other problems, which did got fixed, to keep up--to-date and have a supported Unity version... but now this version is introducing "new" problems... great...
If I would switch back to the older version, whose support ends in 2025 anyway, I probably couldn't get Android to work on all devices anymore and introduce other problems.

Ah fuck, need to think about how to deal with that.

Because MC & the 2 sisters had to get rid of them, somehow, before the family members woke up.

Same reason why Selene did what she did: someone had to wake them up.

Now, I'm gonna bet a tenner that the only male crew member who woke up is gay.

This is a mystery.

Reason why: 42 paying patrons only.

With even Windows 8 out of support by Microsoft for near 2 years now, personally I don't think it's fair for end users to expect new stuff to continue to run perfectly on it. IMO the onus here is for the end users to upgrade to a modern platform. Otherwise, where do we draw the line on support? If I were still running such an out of date platform, my expectation would be "if it works, then great; but if it doesn't, then it sucks to be me, it's not the developer's problem."

But then again I'm not a developer (or at least hasn't been one for decades) so my perspective might be a little (or very far) off.

And let's not even start with the security risk that an OS without any product support represents...

Really great game, least in terms of story and intrigue, but let's be honest 4 years and chapter one only concluded now? While this my personal opinion, I base it on fact and logic, which right now tells me that, with the few updates and little new content this game receives, it will never conclude or will be abandoned. Alternatively it could conclude sooner but poorly which is a strong possibility or less likely that the dev will add more resources to complete this game in a timely fashion while maintaining the good quality we have come to enjoy so far.

For what it's worth, Steam stopped support for anything before Windows 10 in 2024, Google Chrome did so too, Firefox only has ESR support until march 2025. It's time for people to get with the times and use up-to-date operating systems. Doesn't have to be Windows, Linux is also a possibility, especially on older hardware.

Windows 7 is now over 15 years old, people can't expect such old software to be supported forever.
