TLG returned from the dead to warn people about the Steam scam 2 years ago, so yes, he would mind if someone decided to take his IP and continue the story. It's obvious he isn't interested in continuing AOA Academy, nor in letting someone else take the reins of his work.
I am not talking about a scam, I mean more so someone actually continuing it. I mean also who honestly cares if he doesn't want someone continuing his work. Maybe a bad take but personally if a Dev abandones a game and has no plan to ever continue. They shouldn't be able to stop someone from taking the IP, considering a lot of people also pay Devs money for a game that never gets completed.

I wonder if the reason he actually came back to warn people, was to prevent people from being scammed. But who knows honestly, Kinda scummy in my opinion to just drop off the map and not explain to people who paid you 10's of thousands of dollars why you up and left.

The real problem with any attempt at a continuation is not having the creator's plans to work from, making it likely that any attempt would miss the mark in some way.

Of course, someone could create a similar game with a similar story and characters. It won't be the same (at least not if they're any good) but it could be as good.
There are some really talented Devs out there though, I think many could get close to actually replicating the style of the game. But I highly doubt any talented devs would choose to finish others work instead of just making their own game.

I don't believe a word about this so called scam. Steam is very sensitive when it comes to copyright infringements, as they themselves are also partly liable. Should the rightful copyright holder have reported the infringement of their rights to Steam, there is no way that the game would still be available on Steam. However, anyone who makes the claim to Steam will also be asked by Steam to provide proof of this. An affidavit notarized by a lawyer is sufficient for this purpose. Steam would then immediately contact the party that placed the game on the platform and “ask” for proof of legality.

To make a long story short: I don't believe the “someone else is selling my game” story. Personally I believe there were two people who made the game. They fell out and the project fell apart. One of them put it on Steam, the other had access to the account here and tried to spit in the soup.
I thought about that in the past, and the way you put it makes a lot of sense.

Now the question is: Which of the two is making Game of Hearts?

Oh boy, here we go again...

So the theory that TLG Games had 2 devs who were working on the game, and possibly there was a fight between them and they abandoned the project, is starting to make sense.
If that is true and the listing on steam is actually from the other Dev (which im doubtful of) Then he needs to come out and say it. I'd actually support a continuation of this game, Was one of my top 5 games. Though I doubt we will ever see it continued

It's complicated because even the dev who has the account here at f95 doesn't comment on anything except to say that he wasn't the one who posted the game on Steam. But he didn't comment on why the game was abandoned or anything else... So while he himself doesn't comment on the reason for the abandonment, we only have speculation to discuss.

Furthermore, on Steam, this "dev" deletes every comment that attacks him or says that the game was stolen, and he doesn't even comment on it... I bet many people reported the game's page on Steam but nothing happened.

I reported it when I asked for a refund. Because I found out later on that it wasn't the original Dev. Might be a partner. Might be someone who took the game and posted it him/her self. But nothing was done. It's still there.

Well its a harem in a sense that you can be with more than 1 girl but not all of them,Not sure myself what combinations you can get tho.

With it being abandoned it's hard to know, but I believe it was heading for a specific harem as one of the possible paths you could choose. What I mean is not all girls would be in it, and Dev would decide which ones were. (That's how it felt to me anyway).

It's been a while, but, as I recall, there were two clusters - Jenny and her lodgers, or Ashley and the dorm gang - with an early choice between the two limiting who you got close to, but also Jenny and Ashley eventually meeting and approving of each other, suggesting there might be some degree of crossover/merging in the future.

Checking the walkthrough quickly, there are tags for both AshHarem and JenHarem routes, so there were planned poly relationships with each of them, even if they never got further than, for example, Jade talking about threesomes...

If you take a look at some of the sneak peeks that were shown before it was abandoned, it looked like we would get a sense of what Jenny's gang's Harem would be like.

Ashley also didn't seem to give up on MC even though we chose to stay with Jenny for example.

The Steam "stolen" version was updated. Looks to be just moving to a later version of Python. Still, why would they do that if they weren't planning on doing something with it?
I mean true but we still come back to the stone dead silence.

idk if it's been said before but i am going to add fuel to the conspiracy. What if TLG disappeared for the same reason _13_ stopped making games their significant other didn't like it and they chose their love life over their dev life.

How unlucky... I just found out this game and it has the abandoned tag, how long has it been? DeLuca family is also tagged as abandoned and it was one of my favourites
