My problem with 6.1.5 is that when i'm in arenfield no one's in my group even though outside of the arenfield they're in the group with me. now when i come back to arenfield and try to invite any of them, it says that person is not at arenfield at the moment. Companions are never with you in Arenfield. Never.

Have them be with you when you leave Arenfield, as long as their quests are done, you should be able to invite them over.
