Are you using an old save file? Because that happened to me and I had to load an old file.

how does one get there if there is no word map? i had the same problem and stopped playing because of that.

I'm not sure never had that bug, did try playing again in the new version? Also there's a "Enable Map" option in the computer now, but that only works if you're inside the house

If your map disappears: enable cheats on your phone and a button appears on the phone to "enable map" -- click on it.

if you click on the phone and go to the objectives tab you will see what you need to do to progress in the story

Sometimes you just have to use the traditional way to get too specific locations without using the map button.

I think while your at home try to get outside through the living room instead of the map button.
