At least take the emotions - they're made better!
The only disadvantages of gen8.1 are that some anatomy does not work with it and old emotions, but it is compatible with gen8 in almost everything!
What's the problem?
lots of gen3 dresses can be converted to gen8, but those not work in 8.1

Also, I couldn't show everything I wanted in one render, so you got a double! I know it's kinda lazy to just move the camera, but it is already a miracle that I did this one on this weekend(heavily sick) so... bear with me please haha :oops:

When I started DAZ 1 year ago, I didn't want to spend time on Genesis 3, thus I decided to work with either Genesis 8 or 8.1.
I choose Genesis 8.1 over 8 to be able to use the improved expression if I want. But I have to say that most of the expression I use are G8 and not G8.1 :ROFLMAO:.
I don't have a big preference of G8.1 over G8. I started with G8.1 and am used to it now, so I keep using it.

If you prefer to work with G8 characters, you can convert my DUF file from G8.1 to G8 without too much work.
I can post the procedure if you want.
Maybe someone even made an automated script, I don't know.

Here are some DUF files (download link inside the spoilers).

These DUF files are not ready to use (= do not include the specific morphs)
  1. you'll have to get the original asset (G3 or G8) and the G8 (or G9) morph packs I used
  2. For figure which are originallly based on G3 asset, I converted them to G8.1 (for personnal preference)
    You'll need to manually convert the G3 original asset to G8 using

Note:
  • slights geometry details are lost in the G3->G8 conversion. If you prefer to keep the details, you can stick to G3 figure.
    You'll need to use the G3 version of the custom morph I used (most of them are also available in G3)
  • If you prefer G8 over G8.1, you can copy/paste shape/materials to a G8 figure.

Tips: if you are looking for a specific character DUF files, there are already plently posted by others in this thread.
Just use the search function in this thread with keywords like "Character_Name" + "DUF" or "asset"

For Sophia, i used only EJ Adora (converted to G8), with a bunch of body / face morph from








To ease the morph fine tunning process, I use an image viewer to overlay pics from the original game (with half transparency) on top of DAZ viewport. Then try to setup the scene in DAZ with the same camera angle as the original image, and adjust the morph to match. I find it easier to compare the original with the work in progress.

I'm not refering to a DAZ feature, but to 3rd party image viewer application which can be forced on top of DAZ (always on top), and where you can adjust the application opacity to be able to view the application window which is set behind (in our case DAZ studio viewport).

I'm using for this. You can easily move / zoom / rotate the reference image, set the application always on top on DAZ, and allow mouse clicks to be catched by the underneath application (= DAZ) (transparent to mouse).

Load inside the viewer the image reference which will serve as a template. Then inside DAZ, load the Genesis figure + 1 camera and adjust the scene camera angle so that it matches the image reference (try also to find a similar camera focal length, which can be difficult, as it can "deform" the figure).
Then you can zoom in / move both image reference and DAZ camera to focus on the body part you want to adjust.
Once this is done you can start adjusting the morph sliders.
Repeat this operation with different camera angles / reference images to get better accuraccy.

This is the method I use. Maybe not the best. It's fastiduous.

Conversion looks good to me.
Rework a little more the eyes, and adjust hairs.

Test it out with different camera angles, and try replicating neutral scenes from the game.

And increase lighting :)
