I think this game is great, might even be one of the best adult games I have played so far. There is a story that leans towards realism and progressing slowly towards Sophia opening up about her sexuality. The renders are amazing and the detail of the renders add a lot to the game, immersion does a lot. I love the concept of this game with a female MC.
But, I think this last update had a few flaws compared to previous updates. It felt a little bit rushed, some mistakes with renders etc (Not by much, holy crap I couldn't do better myself if I tried for a 100 years
). We have had slow progress with Sophia but now she seems open to pretty much everything in this update which makes her feel a little bit off character. But this is probably because he have listened/seen a lot of the people that want it to be more of a porn game.
The biggest problem of all is that this update have taken 111 days to make and what we got was 1/3 of a day. I thought most of us believed this would speed up updates when LP announced that he'd do smaller updates but more frequently. The progress needs to speed up if he's going to continue do shorter updates. I feel like that he is going to lose a lot of patreons if this continues. At the same time I understand him, he might have a job on the side, stressed, family that does not know of his game development which can be hard for them to understand etc. And I mean, who wouldn't want to claim as much money you can from a project like this? But I think he needs to surprise his fans in a positive way, like releasing an update quickly and make their money more worth to back him up monthly.
It feels like he might have "bit off more than he can chew", in other words the game has grown too large with so many different paths and branches. It might get a little bit overwhelming developing this game alone (Atleast I think LP is just one developer). It's going to take years to develop if it continues like this and i'm afraid it will get abandoned.

Judging by the last wave of 10 or 15 reviews almost all of which were 1 star and half of the comments since the update being unhappy players shitting on this update or the game this was a major flop that has disappointed the crowds.
This is not the result of some sort of sudden change in the game. Sophia has not broken character at all. The pacing did not suddenly speed up or slow down. It has been on this trajectory for some time now.
This is not the result of less sex scenes. The opposite is actually true there were actually 3 very sexual scenes in this update.
1) Fucking husband
2) Sexual Fantasy about prisoner (7 renders no animation)
3) Mutual masturbation daughter
This is probably the MOST SEX scene in any update to this date.
This dissatisfaction stems from people playing this game since October 22 2017. That is a little over 3 years of build up... For what? Thousands of renders... THOUSANDS of renders of normal day to day life. If Sophia brushed her teeth, or combed her hair, or got tan, or went for a walk, or picked up groceries... Everything got a render. Rarely one render, often times a group of renders to tell that part of the story. What does it all culminate in? This long road that has been traveled full of swimming and stretching and watching the televeision after having breakfast... What's it all add up to that has people so upset? 7 renders... 7 that is all the renders allocated to the fantasy sex scene, and 0 animations.
It's as if you were watching something charge up and charge up and get more and more energy built up around an explosion. The build up is of nuclear weapon proportions! What is the boom though? Just 1 little stick of dynamite. It's one nice little boom yea sure... Not what was built up to though.
The addition of the new inmate character also only makes things so much worse for character fanbases. There are fanboys for Dylan. There are fanboys for Sam. Dylan first Dylan first no Sam first! Other characters like Aiden even though hated by many still have a fan base. Did any of these guys or other existing guys get any action in today's story? Not a drop. They live in the desert. Liam does not count after the first fuck he already got his. None of them even got a handjob unless you count sophia accidentally touching her son's junk during a tickle match. None of them has even gotten a "Fantasy Sex Scene" yet. This new guy we never met before that is in prison comes along then it's all like he gets that fantasy sex scene first? New guy day 1 huh? Those characters with hundreds of renders and hundreds of lines of dialogue all built up for what? To step aside and let piece of shit inmate get a hold of Sophia's fine ass first!? Come on now... It's OBVIOUS why people are pissed.
That is why people are seething. That is why this thread is full of rage. That is why people are dropping patreon support. A weak sexual explosion when a strong one has been called for coupled with that explosion being with the wrong 2 people. Liam who already got his and nobody gives a shit about ,and the inmate who is on day 1.
Don't get me wrong. I like L&P and I like this game. He, and I have chatted before on a couple of occasions and he is nice guy. I wish him well. One part of me respects that he is doing what is his artistic vision in spite of the crowds demands and has managed to do so for so long. Props for that. Another part of me says "Give the people what they want!" Playing his game has been inspirational in my own game development. Even chatted him up, and got his blessing on tossing Sophia a little cameo to our game. He has always been a perfect gentleman every time we spoke. Seems like a friendly guy. I got no beef with him.
As a newer lesser known developer I know just how difficult making a high quality game is. I work in a team of 2, L&P does it all by himself. We manage to get our first release off with over a thousand renders and 10 animations out on practically no patreon support at all (now 8 patrons and 17 bucks after our release all of which and more goes towards debts incurred while making a game and we are deep in the hole for now) racking up a fair amount of debt in the process... I know the financial griefs behind making a game. We don't work for free. We work for negative money slaves to our game at this point in time.
It can be difficult not to be envious of a man who releases a game with about 1/3 the renders and 0/10 of the animations that we have done in a similar time frame that is making significantly more money than we are. I can understand how some people's eyes would turn green with envy and be like "fuck that guy!" from my position. Not me though, I have spoken with him, and I wish the guy luck ,and hope he gets his supporters back one day, and his fan base eventually becomes happy when he finally decides to deliver with what has been built up for what seems like an eternity. He knows he would make more money if he delivered the sex sooner. He is keeping to his artistic vision in spite of the crowd chanting for something else.
If he keeps doing what he is doing, and my team keeps doing why my team does... I just hope he isn't green with envy when we pass him up on patreon one day. We will get there some day. Our last 9 reviews were 5 stars with 8 patrons, his last 9 reviews were 1 star with 1400+ patrons.

That there wasn't an option to leave DeBoyfriend behind is precisely my complaint about the event. And the possibility that Don Morello might not forgive the debt unless you choose for Sophia to fantasise about Larry.
It's starting to appear that in the Morello route, in order to save Sophia's house and marriage, she needs to be completely unfaithful, which is counter-intuitive. And contradictory if you did the Ellie/Julia event. Much like how Dylan being at the Yoga event made no sense if you sent him to boarding school.
I imagine though it'd make perfect sense for the Aiden route, I just wish L&P would put more effort into making sure the other routes made sense as well

They must all truly be devotees of the slow burn. I took a look at the walkthrough after I downloaded the game but before I played it. Decided not to play. Will wait for the next version. And pray for better things.

I have a lot of complaints about this last update, but I think you're badly misreading the situation. I don't think the reviews of this thread are truly a good barometer for measuring the popularity of AWAM.
Buy a bunch of liquor and invite friends to get shit-faced. The better, funnier option

Patreon support is a momentum game. It's all about that momentum. There are big snowballs and little snowballs all trying to get more snow. (Snow = Money)
I don't think a game is gaining momentum if it is getting a plethora of negative reviews and comments in the forums. It's slowly losing momentum actually. It's shrinking it's base.
It's all a matter of momentum. The game has been out for a few years and has already built up a lot of momentum. The game is established. Even if this release was so bad that it pissed a ton of people off into writing negative reviews and a few dozen other people into dropping support... Guess what he is still making releases he still has die hard fans hooked that are his die hard supporters. He can afford to make mistakes, and not be game over for AWAM. Even after taking a hit he is still going strong there is a lot of momentum there that won't just vanish after a single unpopular release. It would take several unpopular releases in a row to do significant damage to this games support base. AWAM can go strong for a very long time even if every release for the next two years is majority hate. That's how much momentum this game currently has in it's favor.
On the other hand, If a new game were released or a less than fully established game with the same sort of reviews and forum hate however... Well, there is a long list of abandoned games for this reason and others. New games can't afford to make the same mistakes that well established games can.
Big snowballs gain snow easier than small snowballs, and small snowballs lose snow faster than big snowballs. Had this release for him been on par with our first release of Damaged Goods in terms of reception he would likely have gained several hundreds of new supporters instead of losing dozens. Had we gotten all negative reviews on par with what this latest AWAM release has after our first release and a forum full of hate not love it would be much harder for us to continue and gain support than it is for established games.
If that makes sense.

It wouldn't bother me so much if we knew what characters were for what kinks, and that they weren't so intertwined. I mean, what was the point of Emma being on the lesbian route if her point is to be an LI for Dylan? Or Vicky, if the point was to introduce DeShawn. It would have been far more effective to just have DeShawn instead of Ryan at the gymi hope we dont meet natalie boyfriend too.

I put all that in a spoiler, but this type of thing is an even bigger issue that the slow progression because it directly causes the slow progression, even more so than a bunch of characters and routes. The time between updates actually isn't that bad , most "top" games are in the 3-4 month range. Some even longer. But a disproportionately large amount of that time is spent making filler renders, so we get less content that we would expect with this game.
They show the same scene from different angles that are not needed at all. Different angles in sex scenes are one thing, people generally want different angles for that stuff, but if the characters are just sitting or talking it's a waste of time. I'm not aware of any devs, even the really big ones who could definitely do it, make as many filler renders as LP does.
He already does 10/renders per day (or very close to it). The updates usually are around 1000-1500 renders. That is more than enough to get a really good sized update. But that is misleading since a lot of those renders are just different angles of the same scene, as I noted above.

I love autistic people. If you go into the reviews of AWAM and read the one from quency77 dated on December 6th 2020 he has done all of the math. I have played this game from the beginning every update, and have not checked quency's math but judging by the chart that he puts there it looks like he is really good at math, and is telling the truth. Drop a box of toothpicks by this guy and he will tell you how many fell bravo to him.
v 0.115 110 days for 466 renders = 4.24 renders per day. The previous update that took 160 days was 8.4 renders per day and the most renders. The only release that approaches the 10 render per day mark is version 0.3 that that squeeked under that milestone at 9.73 per day back in March of 2018. The current 4.24 is the lowest it has ever been. That being said to be fair there were some new environments like the sauna, and the prison that would take a renderer extra time. About 7 renders per day looks to be the norm.
