L&P from what we know is getting some help for the animations. Should he organize better with a real team to speed up the process? Yes, maybe. But keep in mind very few developers do that and most people here underestimate the quantity of work needed to have high quality renderings. Cutting on rendering accuracy would save him 2/3 of development time. I don't know if most people would like that. I won't, for example.

Determining the popularity of one game vs. another based on the number of likes is absurd given that most of us literally come to this thread to bitch about it and yet we're all still here.

I have no doubt that rendering is difficult and I've never been good at any form of art myself, much less 3DCG, but we know the guy's been doing this for at least 8 years, so he isn't inexperienced, we know that other games with more content or even more detailed rendering have come and gone in between, and we know the GPU he started out with would get outpaced by a Nintendo Switch 2 nowadays. The game is great so far but let's not kid ourselves that there isn't some procrastination going on.

EDIT: I felt like I couldn't make this point without also acknowledging the growing number of AVNs being made using AI. As far as I'm concerned L&P can take another 1000 years for this update if he likes if he doesn't resort to that because at least you can tell he's making an effort when he makes an effort.

Bit too late for this sentiment/argument; there's allegedly going to be a number of AI-made animations in this update.

(not to mention iirc the renders were already being AI-enhanced for a while)

Anyway, I don't think AI as a tool to help is a bad thing, but if some of these "devs" are going to use it to write the plot, dialogue, code and do all the rendering then I wish they would put that low-effort slop in the recycle bin where it belongs.

Animations with AI are fine to me, as animation made with DAZ usually suck so nothing good is lost. L&P is above average with animations but still, nothing unforgettable about them. And I don't really care about animations in VNs. So anything that speed up animation process is fine to me (and I'm not alone).
To make a decent animation it takes really a lot of skills with Blender/Maya and too much time. All that effort for just a few seconds of video. It really is a bottleneck for VNs, but many people seem so fixated with animations on VNs. I prefer static content and good dialogues.

I don't like AI when it is used to substitute DAZ rendering, getting rid of accurate posing and coherence between images. That is a big problem in my eyes. At the moment L&P used AI in post production, for "polishing", and you can see its unwanted effect on Dylan's hands that look like he's 60 years old in many recent renderings.

L&P already had the game completed, and in its early days, it produced over a thousand renderings every two to three months.

The game was already complete, and they were exploiting backers' money by updating the pre-made game with a thousand renderings every eight months.

what a shit show. This should teach one that you only subscribe AFTER something gets released, or even better, you only subscribe when the game is finished. falcon is a true one and hit the nail on the head, and as it is always with these dedicated discords, people get banned if you dont glaze the dev 24/7.
