It's become perfectly clear that the biggest issue on this thread (and many others, I'm sure) is the endless number of new members spamming the site with "When is the new update?" posts. Though I am a big proponent of free speech, and strongly believe that both supporters and detractors should have a chance to voice their opinions, the aforementioned comments do absolutely nothing to grow the community or improve engagement and civility.
Maybe this is a bit off-topic, but wouldn't it be great if there was a way to impose a "content restriction" on members with less than 100 messages? This would mean that no new member would be allowed to ask about updates (under the threat of a perma-ban), and would instead be forced to actually read the threads before commenting. This would also make members' first 100 posts a bit more meaningful than just spam - though it's not guaranteed.
Asking for the mods to go through every new members' comments would be unrealistic, so we could simply rely on reporting posts that violate this "rule", instead of replying to every lazy person who's asking the same thing over and over again. Though I recognize that this could quickly devolve into a flaming war between "fans" and "haters" of this game, I believe that, for the most part, this community would refrain from abusing this new system.
I understand this suggestion would not be particularly popular with current new members, but it could be implemented for any new accounts moving forward. Anyways, I'm just trying to find workable solutions to the endless trash posts that we seem to get on this thread (or, you know, people could simply ignore those posts). On a side note, I hope we get news of a release date sometime this weekend. It would suck for it to be pushed to next week.
