Unfortunately, that is his issue and not his members. If he knows his count is always going to be x amount of CS/Renders, then he needs to stop giving numbers out to members/people because now it represents an expectation. The expectations he initially sets cause issues with his members because they believe this is the final count, with some variances, but not 2, 3, 4, or 5 times the size of the initial count, which are some of the complaints I've seen through screenshots. This was something I told him he needed to stop doing, but he continues to do it because he tells people what they want to hear.

Of course, the subs ask how many renders there will be and when he thinks he'll be done with the update. To keep everyone happy, he throws out a number and a date. It's always been that way. Remember especially the Sophia/Sam events!
It doesn't matter what people believe or don't believe about him; it's about what he said. That's what people are questioning and judging, but based on your comment, you're trying to absolve him of any responsibility for the words he shares, whether actual or not, and put it on the members, which is perplexing in so many ways.

The "no one is forced" argument would work if it wasn't for L&P giving out release date after release date without delivering. It's like you entirely ignore the fact that the developer should be able to follow-up on his statements because people are paying for it. You can't just roll it off on people saying it's their decision. L&P's statements influence these decisions just for people to get nothing in return unless they pay again...and again, until eventually they get what they were told they'd get months ago.
I think L&P is a bit lazy and keeps putting off the work they need to do. I even think they're out partying at nightclubs or just sleeping all the time, buying large burgers and XL colas from McDonald's, and constantly binge-watching shows on Netflix. I also think that as the release date approaches, they'll make an announcement saying something like, "I've got a pimple on my butt that I can't sit on, so I can't render. Therefore, I regret to inform you that the game's new update will be delayed by another 1-2 years."
