The real root cause is what you said, the fact that she got pregnant and they got married at such young age prevented them (or at least Sophia) to naturally mature and grow up through different experience.
She had to grow up faster and focus on be a mother and a wife, missing out on many other experiences other people normally go through at that age and contribute to shape the personality and their behaviour.
The lack of attention is just the trigger that exposes this side of her.
