His first lesson in self-defence was on PD11, so two days ago. As far as I'm aware, he's only had the one lesson.

What gets me is that Aiden is meant to be this nigh omniscient gang-lord that will beat Dylan up no matter where he is in the city. That's the entire point of doing the tasks and the self-defence lessons, or sending Dylan out of town. Yet Dylan has been out and about at least twice now, and not a single sighting of Aiden or one of his cronies.

Aiden appears completely toothless and just talking shit.
There is already a gang leader in this city, his name is Don Morello :LUL:

This V0.190 update has broken expectations for a large part and perhaps the developer knows this. The game takes almost 6 years and has a lot of history, I still followed the last two updates and I'm part of those who don't have a bag, I'm looking for other games. Excellent image and character quality, story progress very slow due to the update interval. I believe he has a lot more ready and is in reserve, droplet strategy and reaping the maximum fruit, in this niche the guy doesn't care about reputation, even the worse, the better.
Steam has become just a fetish for yet another platform to raise money, a herd effect from these developers. They are also amateurs considering that when launching a game they can openly ask X number of investors not to abandon the project, they are doing media and passing saucers as a beggar, shame.
I put my opinion and visit here to have fun with the despair of digital addicts, be careful you need treatment, this kills.
He's going to make a lot of money over it for a few more years, and this is the path in his best interests. He's no longer trusted by the majority of the audience, but they'll stick around til the end. It's a good, compelling game, but not 10 years good which is what begins to look like the total development time.

The game is now the brand. Had he moved faster and finished it in 2-4 years, he could have made himself the brand like Mr Dots, Lewdlab, Royalcandy and a couple others. They completed good games in a reasonable timeframe, put out good 0.1 of the next game, and people flocked in.

Maybe you forgot or didn't know, but all of Aiden's assignments are based on a plot twist where Dylan asked Aiden to make his mother dress sexier. What he confesses to her when she takes him to boarding school. This twist has been removed, but the idea of the script was originally just that. It's not in the script for Dylan to meet Aiden's guys in town.

In reality, based on in-game days, this game is still at the tail end of the 20th and this game is up to the 37th.

Because it takes two years to see one day.
It will take approximately 34 years from now to see the end.

Honestly. I am not trying or willing to defend the guy, but I believe it would be easy to lose your drive and creativity after so many years working on a project, with this snail pace and with a very vocal group of people constantly complaining (not without reason, mind you, I am not talking about whether the complaints are valid or not, some are, some aren't, this is just about how it would influence someone).
I mean, they had to have realized by now that no matter what, this will still take several years to complete, and sure the money is nice, but in a way that just makes it harder to get the creativity rolling, because why should you, if more than 2,5k people pay you each month, no matter how long the updates take and how small they are. Basically, the only motivation has to come from themselves, their will to create something, their will to treat their supporters fairly etc..
Well once it's finished, it can be polished up and he can probably sell it on Steam as a full game.

Ah yes, Aiden, and his 'powerful uncle' that was, what was it again? A lawyer, iirc?

Oh shit, let's turn a blind eye to the petty criminal in class, because just like no one else knows how to fight, apparently no one else knows another lawyer.

Silly porn logic, as always, but the uncle part in particular sounded like the big bad a child would come up with.
Playing the boarding school route, when Sophia mentions the lawyer uncle, Carl's reaction is pretty much just "Pfft, I know him, don't worry about it"

Carl probably has a few lawyers on retainer of Richard Murphy's calibre.

But it should be in the script at some point, if Aiden's threat is to have any meaning. That it's not is essentially my point.

I am sure the developer knows about the slow development, the questions are about his intentions, does he take steps to increase the development speed (hire some people, get better hardware to increase render speed etc.) or if he simply decides to continue like this and let AWAM be his job for the next decade (or 2 decades)

Seeing how ICSTOR still has 6K patrons, I have confidence that many if not most will continue to keep paying and "supporting" him.

I think the better route is make a small team, invest in some infra and work to make L&P a brand itself rather than just AWAM.

Seeing how Phillygames had been doing 50-80 renders (and some animations as well) every week, while having the similar number of patrons, its not wrong for paying patrons to expect more - a lot more.

I like the update. First time someone’s sperm touched Sophia’s body other than Liam. But i dont like the update cycle.. one scene for every six months? What if a update contains the scene of Fabric Inspection? Should we wait 6 months for such scene? Not worth the wait..

Atleast Lust for Patreon is making progress.. very slow.. but still going unlike some Stopped Art..

Something is off. I had to go back to saves from 0.180 and make sure I warned Sophia at the hair salon, for this choice was not carried over. Also, other paths seem to have not received even a single image in this update. I hope those saves will work in the future...
The "warning" isn't required anymore to get the 2 final Dylan scenes.

i think a poll should be done for that too
not many will be interested in dylan chritine route or even dylan marie
I'm going to disagree with you on that.

I am enjoying almost all the routes and, for those who are not here for Sophia incest with Dylan, the Dylan/Marie Dylan/Ellie and/or Dylan/Christine encounters are of interest.

The issue for the last few years has come down to slow development time.

If L&P gave us two PD's/year, we would still not reach PD 30 complete before the RL year 2030, but everyone could see content they were looking forward to 'coming soon'.

The slow development time (which does not even include the time L&P will take working on a Steam release or other activities that further slow the development of AWAM) means we are not looking at PD 30 complete until some year > 2050.

Cheers! :coffee:

This is Ren'Py we are talking about. If you are so great at programming, you would know that it isn't the same checking a tiny Ren'py update compared to an actual game with actual gameplay
Ren'py is after all (among other things) famous for people without ANY programming experience being able to simply start to create a visual novel.
Yes, AWAM is a complicated VN, for the many routes that need to be factored in, but the dev keeps it completely manageable by the tiny incremental updates. He basically adds one or two scenes on a specific route per update, that doesn't take so long to check.

And please don't trot out that stupid, inane line of "make your own game, instead of complaining," it just makes everything seem so ridiculous whenever people bring that up.
You don't need to make your own thing, to criticize a thing, by that logic no one could criticize anything he hasn't done before, it's moronic, it's like the absolute straw man argumentation, since there is literally NO connection to the matter at hand, it's just a stupid standard defence whenever criticism comes up that a person doesn't like.
I don't have a problem with the dev, I don't pay him and there are many other games to play, so I just wait until I get content in my route, even though it takes eons, but there are totally valid criticisms for the way he works and the amount of work he does in such a lengthy amount of time, so just grow up, please. You can like something and still accept that there is a problem with it.
Despite the harsh tone, I agree with him. He didn't say "make your own game, instead of complaining", he said "make your own game and see how much time it really takes".

That's exactly what I said before the update. It's totally normal to think it shouldn't take much time. Like you said, Renpy is very accessible. But in reality, everything always takes a lot of time when you crawl through the code. And it seems you can only really feel it by experiencing it.

For the sake of science, I measured the time I spent on this update. It took me around 7 hours, and some time more after the release. And during this time, I didn't even have time to carefully read the dialogs... It takes time.

But maybe I'm the slowest guy in the world, and maybe those "couple hours" guys should apply to L&P :p

AWAM v 0.190:

I thought it was a very good update:

Pro's:

Renders were well done, especially the jacuzzi scene with the water effects.

The script was consistent with a Sophia who was trying to justify intimate time with Dylan while doubting herself - along with the 'alcohol made it ok.'

There was unexpected adult honesty where Sophia confided in Dylan that she and Liam were rarely intimate and that he is not making the effort to remind her that she is important to him - This was one of the breakthroughs in intimacy between Sophia and Dylan.

This was the first time that Sophia took the initiative in physical intimacy - she gave Dylan a hj. (Yes - part of her reasoning was to prevent him from giving her an orgasm so that she could hide how sexual this had become for her, but Sophia was an active participant in her first sexual act not involving Liam).

The fact that Sophia told Dylan that he is bigger than his father will, hopefully, be used by L&P in future introspection when Sophia is thinking about her 'date' with Dylan.

Cons:

AWAM is no longer an immersive story - it is now, at best, a series of high-quality vignettes taken from the life of Sophia Parker and her family.

The back-to-back Sophia/Sam then Sophia/Dylan intimacy becomes less special since Sophia's actions make it seem like neither guy is truly special, and she just enjoys the attention of different males since Liam can't be bothered.

The slow development makes some story arcs feel dated and distant - like the Sophia/Ellie story arc (which will not see a planned update for several more years RL).

Finally - a quality update like this, and one of only 3 released this year, reminds me of both the early promise that AWAM held and how unlikely I am to ever see a completed AWAM.
