It seems to me that this is the author's literary device of "slow burning" intrigue, when at first Sofia says a categorical "No", and then persuades herself to do something: for the sake of the children, for the sake of the family, to pay off a debt, to fulfill the duty of a TEACHER, etc. This device is used by the author quite often (Sophia showed Dylan her boobs in the fitting room, a bikini show, Sam, Dylan in the jacuzzi and many other places. People have already gotten used to it, it does not produce the same effect that it did at the beginning of the game.
