The way Sophia is looking at Ellie, I think there is some jealously or guilt involved maybe somewhere in there? It could be she might do something out of guilt or maybe not to raise any suspicion that she is Ellie's mom and would do something with one of the boys. It seems to me that is direction it could take so the story can progress further.
