Did you download from VikingFile? So far everything I download from VikingFile will give false positive virus detection and ask are you sure you want to download this dangerous file. I only use BuzzHeavier to download majority of the files now. I rarely use VikingFile to download anymore. I dunno VikingFile started to give false positive ever since it started asking for donations.

Technically, it is google that is saying that you downloaded a Ren'py game from vikingfile, and that is a virus. Most of the browsers are using the google metrics for "safe from viruses" and "reputation". Those are settings you can turn off in your browser.

, I wouldn't consider $200 much, let alone it drying up, and that was even back during active development. The game was abandoned the day it hit Steam, which was Sep 27, 2023 (was actually before that since no updates had happened on Patreon either), so doubt it is much about the money since this developer never was making much, probably make more working at McDonalds.

Inconsistent updates, missing their own deadlines over and over, excuses, going silent.
I'm not sure about earlier development, but during the time I was a subscriber (for about a year before he vanished) that was what it was like, so I think it's understandable, at least during that timeframe, that people were hesitant to support them.
If you have a reputation of being unreliable, no one is going to want to throw their money away, it's just common sense.
