You have to go to 'Skill Set' outside of battle, and select the skill to add it to your list of usable ones. It's a bit of a weird system but that's how it be.

Did you open up the menu and set the normal attack skill?? If not follow the following steps.
1. Open up the game menu by pressing either the 'x' or 'esc' key.
2. Scroll down to the option 'Skill Set' and press the 'z' key.
3. Press 'z' again to select Yua. You are now on the skill select screen.
4. Press 'z' again to edit what will show up in the Skill menu during combat, and add the Normal Attack skill.
If these steps don't solve the problem then you have a bug and I would suggest starting a new game. If that doesn't fix it then you may need to download a new copy of the game.

If you highlight a skill you already have equipped and select release it will unequip the skill. It's useful once you start getting the level 2 and 3 versions of the basic skills.
you need the jumping shoes, you get the jumping shoes in the fire dungeon, after that jungle dungeon that the tentacles are in. once you have to shoes, go back, and try to get the chests that were not within reach before in that tentacle/jungle dungeon. i believe one of the chests have the keys. i could be remembering wrong though.
does that mean you need to skip the nest entirely because there is no way back in?

Either skip it and come back, or wait till you finish the game and start a new game+.
Just go back to where you were first captured by the tentacles, and they'll capture you again.

So I am stuck trying to get into the slave market, i have asked around and read here that need to talk to a lady but there is no one directly in front of the guard and no matter how many times i talk to the lady that asks if i am sexually harassing her the guard does not move I have beaten the king & queen boss for that level and can move to the next so not sure what I am missing

I ran into the same issue, and I think that in order to progress with the Slave Market you have to go there before beating the level boss. The woman you need to talk to is right in the corner almost directly south of the guard, and I think she disappears once you beat the boss.
Again this is my supposition, and I could be way off base, but it fits the facts.

Well that sucks and if that is the case does anyone have a gamesave just before the boss fight for that level? Due to my idiot self I have only one save for the game and its well after that fight

I don't have a game save at that point, but all is not lost. You can continue and beat the game then start a New Game+. I screwed up on my second run through.
sorry for the late reply. yeah, as someone else said, go to the map in where you first got captured by that mass of plant monsters. they'll keep showing up again every time you leave the tower and return. so yeah, you don't have to ignore the whole plant capture thing completely, as you can come back anytime as you can get captured again. but yeah, the shoes are necessary to jump certain areas in that map to get the key, and the shoes are in that fire/lava dungeon that's right after that jungle/plant dungeon.
where are the jumping shoes? specificly because I looked up and down every chest and if its convoluted like the key for the ruins PLEASE give a hint in general location.

Rightmost section of the fire floor, lower right corner iirc. Literally impossible to miss once you see the chest, so odds are you haven't been there yet.
