If she wanted to stay in his life but he wasn't giving her what she wanted any more, it's on her to communicate that and on him to meet her at least halfway. Doing stupid abusive shit to "test" the MC and then getting mad that he didn't "fight for her" is what emotionally immature teens do.

I actually LOVE Liam, but if the alternative is him with Rena, than kill him... it may sound cruel, but as much as I like him, he is not Rena worthy... Hook him up with Hedwig or her friend who he actually CLAIMS he is very attracted to, hell have him go for therapy and hit it off with the flirty nurse... that way he can "take" her from the MC without the MC having to break her heart...
