I'm glad to hear I'm not alone, although I wouldn't go so far as saying I didn't care at all. To each their own experience.

By the moment I got to the fire in my first playthrough, I was already "out" of the game due to my MC acting against my will and choices made so far, so it was more a sarcastic laugh like 'come on, what now' thing. I guess people who played with the threesome option in mind can feel more affected by it, as well as those extremely sensitive ones who tend to fully invest themselves on stories. Then I'll admit all the mourning part is relatively well depicted and there are some powerful scenes, but from that point onwards is not a game anymore and even the sex scenes seemed out of place to me (not to mention the final plot twist and the intended moral lesson, which is a big no-no for me). So yeah, not at all the overwhelming cathartic thing most people seem to experience

I totally respect that others have different experiences, but am I the only one who wasn't absolutely devastated by the fire? I mean, sure, the choice (or non-choice) sucks, but it didn't ruin my day or playthrough, so to speak.

Certainly hit me right in the tear ducts (and did so in each of the following three runs), but didn't have too much of an impact on my sleep or life otherwise - other than being a memorable emotional moment of a memorable emotional story that is.

In my first playthrough I was a lot more affected by what follows after EP6, actually. With the fire the author had laid the cards on the table and shown what he was willing to do to the main characters. So I was absolutely terrified when *cough* a certain person *cough* started asking the MC weird question about having the "wrong" women in his life and everything clicked into place in my head.

Don't think I ever feared so much for the life of fictious characters as I did in that room.
(Playing through the scene in a slightly sleep deprived state at 3:30 in the morning didn't help either, I guess.)

Amen to that. Exactly why the fire was so devastating for me. I was sad prior that moment, but once it happened I literally started crying, no homo or anything. Music also had huge impact on me. Fits perfectly.

I played Being a Dik before this game, It's nice to notice familiar stuff like name Lynette, Delta Iota Kappa... easter eggs, should you say?

It's sad how the game was so short. I played it in 8 hours yesterday, I even made dishes and dinner in that time frame. Steam playtime is 6 hours now, though it also includes some additional achievements.

Oh, things I would do if I could erase this game from my memory (And witcher 3!) just to experience them again, blindly.

It's from the movie _Van Wilder_ originally, I think. DPC has repeatedly stated to be a fan of college comedy film, so it makes sense.

The fact that there's a whole set of DAZ college assets with the DIK and HOT distinctives helps too (probably much more than anything else). I don't think AL and BaDIK are set in the same universe, as timelines simply don't add up. Both games are set in 'present day' and BaDIK places the frat foundation just a couple of years before the game start, which would push AL some years into the future

Yup. I've seen the HOTs thing in several games, mostly on cheerleader uniforms (Melody, Milfy City are examples)

Writing / quality wise i'd say it's definitely at least as good. And it's absolutely worth playing.

Whether you'll enjoy AL however depends on what you're looking for in your virtual novels.

It's not just more of the BaDIK fare. It's less of a comedy. It's neither a porn nor a harem game*. One might say it's more "mature"?
If you connect with the story and characters at all, it'll make you feel pain.
It's not a doom and gloom simulator, I'd argue it's quite the opposite.
But it doesn't hesitate to surprise you and induce all kinds of uncomfortable emotions in you to make its message stick.

Personally, I'd say I slightly prefer it over DIK, as much as I love the latter.
What you'll get out of it though, you can only experience yourself...


* Not that BaDIk really is, but quite a few people seem to have gone into this with the wrong expectations in the past.

Being a DIK is better but Acting Lessons is worth playing, so yes it's on BaD's level. It's much more of an emotional rollercoaster and would probably fall under the flat out Romance-Drama genre, as it's not afraid to punch you in the gut; While BaD is more of a college Rom-Com, it's written well, and is very well rounded, but it's much more jovial, leaving you with just a good time(think American Pie). There's a lot of jank as i'm pretty sure this was DPC's first project, but not only did i not regret playing it(multiple times), there's a genuine feel of authenticity to it, like DPC put a lot of heart into it. Imo it even makes BaD even better, as you can see how DPC took all the criticism and made improvements on almost all fronts(I played that first, but did another run after finishing AL).

A Disclaimer though, this game is much more Linear than BaD

To save life of our beloved fiery Irish broad from execution by DPC's rusty Chekhov gun (the most contrived and unbelievable one I've ever seen) and activate her post-credit maternal scene (best ending evar for us, her fans, amongst the available ones) the following conditions need to be met:

#1. Episode 5 - Liam RPs should be over 19 --> he will answer the call after Jonas leaves Ana. That enables the event below.
#2. Episode 6 - Liam helps Megan out during Peter's incursion --> that allows Peter to get his stash back to enable Step #4.
#3. Episode 6 - Do not ship Liam to Rena at the concert and all.
#4. Episode 7 - Shoot Peter up with the handgun when at his home.
#5. Episode 7 - Do not comfort Megan
#6. Episode 7 - Accept Leah's proposal
#7. Episode 7 - Aim for Leah's pussy

Note: This secret scene is only available on the Megan path, even though the pale lady survives on the Melissa path too if you follow the guide. Nevertheless, you will get the milk flashback instead. Bug?

well, it's just like any other movie or book for me. I just don't have a need for immersion, so it was okay as a story, and I didn't really feel too emotional about most of it.

It really only works if you connect with both characters. On my first playthrough i did a Megan only route, though ironically i wasn't really feeling her character halfway through(like her personality but felt like DPC made her "too perfect" and her and Jonah's dynamic didn't really give of a peer vibe), so i was kind of bent i couldn't try to save Melissa(I originally was interested in this game because of her, but chose to "reject her" as I figured there would be a romance path somewhere down the line), then i got angry at Jonah for being so damn weak, because both women are like super tiny(i'm not very big, or even that strong, but i would totally be able to carry them both out with my adrenline going crazy in the moment). Then i kind disengaged because the whole thing felt kind of rushed, and I didn't feel like i had much of a choice at all(in my head i also wondered if they had left the door unlocked.....again). so it got to me for different reasons.

Saying all that on my second playthrough where i full on went for Melissa, i definitely got why it hit some ppl so hard, on that path all three characters are kind of on their way to being happy them Bam!! and i think that's the romance path DPC had in mind when writing the scene. I ended up feeling kind of shitty anyway because not only did it suck for Megan who was finally hitting her dream, i knew Melissa would be absolutely crushed, and feel like she doesn't deserve to live(happy DPC did not go all the way there), as Megan was pretty much her Rock and soul mate. didn't ruin my day but defintely made my fap a bit emotional and lowkey confusing.
