so now that the original game is abandoned are you going to continue and make new content or just gonna end here
I believe he's going to continue with his own vision for the game.

The original isn't abandoned. The tag is just added automatically after there's been no word from the creator after a set period of time.
I intend to continue working on this for a bit still, but my work on this project is going to be winding down soon.

It will be 3 years in March next year since I started working on this project.

I have my own original projects and ideas that I want to bring to life without using other's work as a basis.

I still want to leave things in a good place before I stop though.

Resolution Update 1:

Update time.

Progress:

So right now I've been working on creating a comprehensive outline for the quests and Matrons that are coming in the next update.

Which is going to be a lot of work for every Matron, after reviewing and reading the original content with a more critical eye and how it aligned with my own vision all the writing is pretty much scrapped.

So because this thing is now being changed so much, have to work through and make sure the pieces fit together in a way that makes sense.

The elven land is going to have a more intertwined quest than anything that exists currently, these women's lives are more intertwined than most of the lone survivors found throughout the world up to this point.

Current Plans:

As the update is called 'Resolution' the current plan is to aim for this release to contain the Elven lands and the possible conclusions to the story based upon your actions throughout the game.

I may end up splitting the updates up depending upon how things are going when I actually finish the majority of the content for the Elven lands.

The Elven lands will contain 9 matrons.

My main focus is going to be on completing this quest line and what follows.

Thoughts:

As I said above it's going to be 3 years in March of next year since I started working on this.

When I started this it was the only thing that I focused on, so thought I could have it all done and wrapped up way sooner.

Life, the work required, and new responsibilities have slowed that down. :oops:

So while not everything will be done to the original overly optimistic standard, I still hope once it's all said and done that everyone enjoys everything that comes out.

Sorry I haven't gotten any other mirrors up, will see what I can do over the weekend.

Also sorry I haven't written the guide on how to insert custom content... although I don't know how many of you will even be tempted to try. :whistle:

Next progress report will be on the 30th of October.

That makes sense. I'm glad you're still going to see this through, but can't blame you for wanting to move on. I am definitely still interested in custom content, but time-wise I don't know if I'll be able to - I would love to at least have the option though.

I'm curious what other projects you have in mind.

What is implemented for custom-content is the Encounters/Generation... I just need to explain the format fully and do a few tests to see what the limits are... the system does work as it's the way that the content in the game works now.

All the potential human daughters are generated at run time and all the available human encounters per zone are generated at the start of the game and then refilled when the pool of encounters for that zone is emptied.

The writing side that I talked about before at this point would need me or someone else who understood Ren'py to implement it in.

As for the other projects... I have many in mind.

Until there is more solid information for them going to keep my mouth mostly shut about them. ;)

What I will say is they won't be like this... the scope/scale of this game being made with original content is well... frankly insane and not viable for one person.

Hey Epadder I'm curious, what mechanics do you use for combat? How do the attack and defense values factor in, are there random rolls, etc?
No random rolls for damage, kept it pretty simple.

Weighted Randomness is used for enemies to determine what they should do.

Basic Formula

Attack Value (Strength * Weapon Strength Mod) - Defense Value (Vitality - (Vitality * Weapon Armor Piercing) = Damage Taken

Minimum Damage for player is 10 * Level

Minimum Damage for enemies is 3 * Level

Enemies that Guard reduce that damage by half.

Enemies that Charge deal 25% more damage.


Effects or "Keywords" on items can cause extra effects.

Blessed
Deal/Receive 35% more/less damage from undead and cursed creatures.

Restoration
Recover 33% of damage dealt as health.

Wound I
Lose 16% health a turn.

Wound II
Lose 33% health a turn.

Gaia's Strength
Gain extra Attack/Defense equal to Total Offspring * 8 / game difficulty (1, 2 , 3, 4)

Cool! How did you come up with those mechanics? The idea of trying to decide what combat mechanics to use in a game seems kinda daunting to me.

That's a hard one to completely answer... :unsure:

Basically I've played a lot of games and examined their mechanics and how they work.

I then took what I knew, what I felt fit in the game, and what I thought I could do to come up with how I would make things work.

So basically play games you like, but break down the mechanics and find the things you like and don't like.

Then figure out how to apply those mechanics in a way that you understand.

Just want to ask, the whole incest and impregnation tags... is it considered taboo in the game? Like, I love the appeal of impregnating family members, but I want it to mean something in the game... to me, that's the appeal...

I haven't played the original, but is the content in your version better with yours than the original, especially since the original is discontinued...

Resolution Fallen Utopia Update 2:

Time for an update.

Progress:
I have done more work on the outline, I have a basic outline of the whole quest chain for every Matron including the two paths (Peace/Revenge).

I have part of it with a very detailed outline of the start and the quests for one of the new Matrons.

Also have been putting work into getting all the files prepped and ready for the new Matrons.

Plans:
Well going over things, I've decided to split the update in half.

There is too much to cover to put it in just one update and won't be able to realistically decide where to focus things if I try and do it all in one go.

So the next update will be "Fallen Utopia" followed by "Resolution".

A lot of the direct Tolkienism's are being discarded... especially the direct names. :rolleyes:

Fallen Utopia will include 9 Matrons (one different based upon peace/revenge).

Resolution will include 2 Matrons (one different based upon peace/revenge) the finale and 5 Endings.

So Hanu/Sybil will finally make it into Fallen Utopia. I'm not sure how much additional content to other parts of the game will be added for that update.

Resolution besides containing the direct story content will be my chance to add additional polish throughout the game... how much depends of course entirely upon how long it takes to finish the story.

I hope that I can include the monster girl daughters in some form in that update, but don't want to guarantee it because of how much time and effort it took to add the human side.

Also the simple fact that finding a comparable amount and quality of content is much much harder.

PS:

Will try to add the guide soon... I did double check test that the system holds up well... I gave Aura every other Matron's daughters and gave every location all the encounters and things were working well.

Just need to write up the procedure, the format, and precautions to avoid breaking everything. ;)

Thanks for putting this out been wanting to play this again since the other ver hasnt been updated in a long while. Is anyone else having any problems with viruses since my antivius is blocking it crazily and I just want to Know if its me or if this version is infected somehow. Thanks

Gotta say, between the solid mechanics and excellent choices in art assets, this has got to be one of the best games I've found on the site, great job!

Ren'py games with custom icons tend to throw false positives. I don't know if me saying that will make it seem better, but can look around the forum and maybe see that it has shown up for other projects that everyone said were fine... maybe the next version I'll just leave the icon out... it's a nice little touch, but isn't that important.

On the newest Mac version it just says it can't be opened help appreciated
Sorry to hear that... I don't have a Mac to test with, so don't know what to do to help... I know that someone converted the last version and it ran... also look around the forum I'm sure someone made a tutorial on how to use the Ren'py sdk to run the game... maybe that will give a more complete error of why it didn't run.

The custom icon displayed next to the exe file? I like it, it's a nice change from the generic, which is way too cutesy for a sex game. Lol

Fallen Utopia Update 3:

Progress:


Update time again, wish I could say that I had gotten more done, but been a bit under the weather.

I have been working on more prep work with images/backgrounds and I have done a bit more detailed outlining of the quest for one of the characters.

Plans:

Going to keep on working on preparing images/backgrounds and doing more on the outlines for now.

Also working on an another little immersive feature... not sure if I will fully implement it everywhere or just in some parts of the game... still not sure on it.


For now though that's all I have to report atm.
