The idea was great but the optimisation was so poorly made people had trouble running the game.

If I had to guess this'll likely be their most well-optimized game of the generation. They've got to be really confident in that regard if they're gonna have the sex scenes be seamlessly integrated into the game rather than be separate loaded instances. And this is likely the same engine and framework as the last three "realistic" Illusion games, just tweaked more obviously, so it'll likely run better than PlayHome did, which also happened to run better than Honey Select, just marginally.

about this, can you remove all the mod and extras leaving only translation intact?

Never tried removing the mods and can´t imagine why one would want to do that, after all thats what the repack is for. If you really want a "clean" version i´d say get the original japanese trial and check for a translation for it or use it as it is.
Keep in mind that a lot of download girl cards might not work when created on a modded version.
(By the way, Hongfire seem´s to be down at the moment)

Kinda would like to see options for vagina types as they have with nipples, areola, I like both uncensors but would enjoy being able to choose from them, first one looked like a non virgin, the second looks more virgin like.

No that is only for early access to that Fan mod pack, not the game. Its not released yet.
