Pretty much what I intended to say, in the end it comes down to preference, when it comes to porn I dont imagine myself being the guy, Its more that I dont like to pay attention to them, I get turned on by girls, so I prefer when It focuses on them, a faceless character helps with that, with the actual game its the opposite because Its pretty much impossible to create a fully immersible self insert, games have too much interactability so at the end of the day the character will never be able to perfectly become a self insert, just look at Genshin, they realised that and completely abandoned the idea of Aether being a self insert and now he is a weird inbetween of the two. Even Persona games dont have full-on self inserts, they already embraced that the character needs his own personality even if he is not voice acted.

In the end its a matter of preference, there are people that prefer when a pre-established character is used in porn, I'm just not one of those people.
But when it comes to actual games very few people actually prefer self-inserts over any other character (although I say "few people" I've never met one), If you're new to this type of stuff it might seem silly but after you've had more experiences you start to realize the strengths and weaknesses of different character archetypes. If you'd like an example, just think about the story of genshin or star rail and now replace the traveler/trailblazer with literally anyone else in the roster of playable characters and you'll realize that the story would be far more engaging and interesting, because nobody cares about finding the travelers sibling, and nobody cares about how the trailblazer exists in the story not even the developers, they literally just threw him in there without any reason for existing, they could've done something interesting like exploring the fact that they're a newborn and wouldnt know anything about the world, or maybe he would be curious about their origin and purpose of creation (although in that case its pretty much March 7th's backstory, so it would be better to just have her be the MC), but instead they just threw him there and called it a day. Considering Honkai Impact 3rd's story is as good as it is because 1- It has a proper character as a Protagonist and 2- When new characters are introduced they dont just stay for a 5 hour arc and then disappear never to be mentioned again, instead they remain until they die; It feels ominous to see the game going in the same direction as genshin and star rail, like it will just become another mindless clone, they even said it you wouldnt need to play part 1 to play part 2, even the equipment for part 2 will use different materials, thats very clear (to me at least) an attempt to separate part 1 from part 2 in peoples mind, because if someone played part 2 and then went back to play part 1 they would be immediately turned off by the difference in graphics and gameplay, so chances are they wouldnt even bother, witch would discourage Hoyoverse from creating anything similar to Part 1 since it wouldnt bring money, and instead would just continue to put out mindless clones.

This getting interesting. Myself prefer faceless man or hilichurl, but not for self-insert purpose, but to imagine the characters secretly a slut who love doing intercouse with that i mentioned or with whoever but not pre-established character. Perhaps my opinion exactly same as tornadox actually. So it's like maybe headcannon, that Genshin or Honkai character is a slut (for female character only), without the MC know that.

For porn/hentai, people actually SI better than they do in games? I never needed to SI for porn, either...I prefer seeing established characters going at it, not faceless men. For example, one of my favourite pairings is Shido and Kurumi from Date A Live, and I only enjoy hentai of Kurumi if she's with Shido, not a random faceless man. I don't imagine myself as Shido, either.
