I hope we get a version where we do that second scene with the ghost dog, but the shrinking potion wears off...

So. While I was working on a new kind of mechanic for the next update, I realized that I could potentially use what I was doing for improving other aspects of the game.
After a bit of messing about, I think I have a good working prototype!
I've attached two small videos to demonstrate. One shows how an interaction with an NPC will work (ignore the available buttons haha, they're just there for testing purposes)
The other demonstrates how a scene will look, as the intro is effectively just a small scene. It also shows what the new Home screen might look like.

There are of course tweaks to be made, and a LOT of work to get this expanded out to the rest of the game. But I think it will be worth it!

Wow, this looks really nice already! I love the updating Mina model in the scene with Beth. Having the images change (and being able to move forward and back) feels much more dynamic than scrolling. The 'wall-of-text' style doesn't bother me personally, but I know it's a turn-off for a lot of people. This format will have a much broader appeal. Great work!

Very cool game, right up my alley (well maybe not the ear and nipple insertions). But the excessively long text in the scenes is working bad on my dyslexic ass...

Let's add a dyslexic font then.

'Cuz I sure as hell don't want the scenes to get shorter, that's half the reason I come here, and it's a text game anyway, which is kinda like going to see a painter's exhibition as a legally blind person.

This is one of the best actual games out there, I kinda wish it wasn't a Html game, but hell, I LOVE it.

I love the art and Mina is cute as hell, I love seeing her be such a slut. I seriously wish a game like this could be a game game on like steam, but there are too many Karens do say that fictional stuff is bad.

Alright, here we go! Kind of.

Version 0.15 - Demo

This is a big one! So big that I'm definitely going to miss some stuff out in the changelog. You're also almost certainly going to find bugs. Please let me know of any that you come across! I'm also not sure how to let you play the web version on itch without removing access to the functional 0.14.6 version.

Originally I was hoping to get the entire game up to the current content overhauled and released by now but that is turning out to be a much larger task than I thought. So I'm putting out this as a kind of demo of the new UI. It covers pretty much everything up to the point where you would normally get to unlock the first private wing of the library and open up the Deep Caves. Only thing not here that might otherwise be is Dates.

Please note that this is NOT save compatible in any way. Old saves will either not load, or be completely non-functional. Sorry about that! The full, proper release of 0.15 should work with old saves though, so be careful what you overwrite.

An android version of this demo is coming! It just might take a day or two while I tinker with it.
  • The entire UI has been completely overhauled! The game now plays a lot more like a traditional VN, with a main window screen, a text box and controls to either side. Clicking on the image will expand the image to fill the window.
  • As part of this overhaul the normal twine sidebar has been removed. Everything is now in what was the inventory sidebar.
  • Gathering locations have been changed drastically. You now no longer randomly search a location, you can go looking specifically for what you want. There are also now options to gather multiple times at once, and it will give you a rough idea of how much stuff you'll gather by doing so.
  • The Journal has also been dramatically overhauled. It should now be much more intuitive, and you can even use it to solve recipes without experimenting at the cauldron. Of course, you can also still discover recipes the old way.
  • A lot of encounters will now give little hints on how to find a followup scene.
  • Events and event notifications have been drastically improved in the back-end.
  • Library research is currently in a very, very simplified and not final state. Ideally I would like to come up with some kind of mini-game or something to spruce this up a bit, but that will have to wait for a future update.
  • A few images have been redone from the vine and slime scenes.

Personally, I think the dialogue advancement boxes, "Start", "Previous", "Skip" and "Next" should be re-arranged, but take the feedback with a grain of salt because my brain just organizes things differently. Personally, I'd have "Start" and "Skip" on the left, with "Previous" and "Next" on the right.

Stuff highlights as it triggers a "you should do this" flag, but if you make the Elasticity elixir without discussing the Allure potion, the Allure potion box is not highlighted.

Minor:
Meeting Beth:
"Well well, look who's come out of seclusion" is missing punctuation.

Meeting Jessica, discussing "Daughter":
I'm fairly sure the second part of the dialogue where Jessica points out that Mina's been holed up should follow with Mina's speaking bubble, but Jessica continues first, then Mina replies with "Haha, yeah...".

Speaking with Jessica about the Allure potion:
'aphrodisiac' - spelling.

I'll update as I find things.

All of that said...
10/10, I really like this game!
