Make sure to press F1 in the main menu, not the gallery (after you press start and have the actual menu).
I think it's safe to say Grimhelm ain't coming back. RIP more good games.
He'll be back when he comes back. It's normal for him to disappear for years between game releases, from what I've seen.
Would it be possible if anyone shared Alien Quest Eve on Mega? The links provided in the thread don't work anymore.
Can't wait for another game from Grimhelm. Dude's got a good eye for developing games.

And does anyone know how a game is supposed to be developed in unity that can be more easily modded? Or something else?

I am not familiar enough with Unity to give a precise answer, but as a general rule if you want mods you need to make your game able to load external assets easily and provide some tools or documentation on how it works.Cool tool! its a little bit basic but it useful for develop more ero games like alien quest eve

The closest game that I can think of (probably the only one in my steam library that I can think of) is Starship Trooper : Terran Command where it read / load data externally (unit / building / map data are contained in either .xls file or .json file).
Other than that, probably has to go the KoiKatsu way, as in use an Unity Injector to inject stuff into game (This is how new costume and stuff modded into the game).

I know Grimhelm has a habit of disappearing for upwards of a year randomly but I think this is the longest one yet, hope he's still around.
hmmmm kinda confusing on what to do here i dont mod alot and havent played the game yet and i just want to make sure my first game experience is good since it took me a couple yrs to even find it from pornhub lol
but there are 4 mods available which is hardmode, controller, horny eve, kmod
what do i install????
i get that hardmode has a better version which is bonemod and controller is for people that wants to play on a controller but horny mod and kmod im kinda confused on what "UABEA mod installer" is i found it on github but idk what to even do i can probably find a yt vid for it but idk how deep that rabbit hole goes so kinda hesitant whether to try and find it or not pls send a link
but anyways back to kmod there are 6 files one for the controller that i dont need and since it says "horny eve addon" and "kmod +horny eve modified version" do i need both or just one, do i just install horny eve from the first page links?? and where exactly do i drop the files
what does it mean " When the choosing directory page popup, choose the game's main directory (AS IN Drive:\[Main game folder] NOT Drive:\[Main game folder]\AlienQuest-EVE_Data) " bc idk i unziped the game into my desktop and found them and threw them into a file to organize it and the files locations confused me since im unfamiliar with the layout.
anyways i want to say i want to download
and if your gonna try to explain it to me pls dumb it down to grunts and crayons i dont have alot of experience in modding only things i know how to do is vortex for Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077 which i broke the game multiple times and a couple games from f95zone which turned out okay but still hella confused
also the "-------" doesnt line up when i actually post the comment which is kinda annoying but imma leave it anyways and my spaces infront of the text to indent and organize my thought process didnt work so gonna use numbers and dots

Just choose one file to download and that's it
Don't forget to back up the "Assembly-CSharp.dll" and "save file".
It's a mod installer used for install asset files and create backup for the replaced asset files.
Because the way installer work is that it will find the folder "AlienQuest-EVE_Data" where the asset files are located. If you choose " Drive:\[Main game folder]\AlienQuest-EVE_Data", the installer won't be able to find the asset files and abort the installation.
Assuming that you install the mod correctly (as in the Assembly-CSharp.dll is replaced), you can still play the game but in-game menu art will break.
hmm okay thank you for clearing up the kmod situation but still kinda confused what about the base mods do i still need to download them or are they already built into the kmod? usually in vortex there were required mods before downloading a specific mod is it the same here too?

YOU DON'T NEED BONEMOD TO BE INSTALLED IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL KMOD
This is not a skyrim or anything, so no base mod is needed UNLESS the author of said mod specifies.
so in KMod case, install only KMod is fine because I have already implemented the code from Horny-EVE mod and Controller fix into KMod.
UABE mod installer is just an installer; just choose the right directory and it will do the work for you.

ohhhh there was already a UABE installer in the download and i didnt have to download a separate UABE welp ill just keep it anyways smh
