I love this game but please... remaster it after finishing a story, m'kay?
Don't waste your time that could be spend of finishing a story. Imagine if book writers release 5 books and start remastering parts 1-5 instead of focusing on 6th part. Like, wtf?
I'd guess the dev is doing a "remaster" this early because he realized what he had was going nowhere, that the introduction did not establish a solid enough foundation to carry into a strong middle and ending. I've worked in editing, helping writers on their novels, and seen the same problem repeatedly: they write hundreds of pages for their introductions and middles, then realize their stories have serious flaws that prevent them from continuing. So they have to scrap a lot of hard work and start over.
But I'd agree with you that at this point, doing a "remaster" is a waste of time. And it's not a remaster--it's a rewrite. (Can't REmaster something that was never mastered to begin with.) It's just an adult game, and it's not critical to have the most compelling of stories in these games. They just need some basic plot elements that create a little bit of tension between the main character and the female leads. Moreover, Amnesia's first introduction is not all the complicated or detailed, so it would not have been that hard to develop a reasonable plot for the middle and end. The dev could come up with anything for the middle and end, and it would probably fit fine with Amnesia's vague miasma of an introduction. I've already suggested these plot ideas elsewhere, but whatever.
I'd guess that most people following this game are just sticking around for the adult scenes, not for the story. I think the people who say, "But I kinda like the slow grind!" don't realize the game has been in development for six years. And this is what makes this remaster so obnoxious: riiiiiight when those adult scenes are about to unfold, right when the required instances of groping and fondling and teasing have been waded through, the dev switches to doing a remaster, rather than finally develop those adult scenes. "Wait! Wait, no, the buildup is all wrong! We're gonna need to redo everything." Ridiculous, to say the least.
Sigh. Not hard to imagine what might have been with this game.
