I'd say in the context of the animations, he's definitely overambitious. Especially in the beginning, he often added soooo many extra animations to some of the scenes, and I'd imagine programming all those extra animations require a lot of time and probably distracted him from working on story progression.Well, there's vaginal sex with Rei and Eva but then again they're not the main acts. I know the guy is on the slow side but the animations he made before turning to AI was pretty damn amazing, even going as far as animating Kate's clit lol
Evidence that his storytelling is horrible: after sixish years of development, can anyone explain how the main character's amnesia has been fleshed out in any meaningful way? Probably not.
But is he slow? I'd wager it's not slowness but disorganization or a lack of direction that is his major crutch. Super Alex definitely knows how to animate and visualize hot scenes--but he's lost with his story, which ultimately is the deciding factor in how the adult scenes escalate, especially in a slow corruption game.
In other words, I think a "slow" developer who had a clear roadmap/outline (especially a story outline) for his game would have been able to push a game like Amnesia much further in 6 years.
For example, the game has like a bazillion masturbation scenes, a ridiculous amount. That the game has been stuck in the groping/masturbation stage (at least for the main love interests) for 6ish years of development time is evidence of a lack of organization/direction, rather than him really wanting to flush out this stage of interaction.

16gb for a renpy game is ridiculously huge. Heck, even Left 4 Dead 2 game is less than 15gb in size. We need a hero with a file compressor quirk

The current version is bugged, you will need to wait until the bugfix version, the "a" version is always the initial release and usually riddled with bugs, "b" or "c" will have all the fixes.
