So I just played this for 6 or 7 hours straight until I reached the end...
And I'm torn on this one.
I love the concept and the graphics. The animations are cool too. This is the type of game I've been looking for, visually, something that feels like a mainstream game as far as design goes. Not too many porn games like this out there. And it's a nice change from the "visual novel" format.
And yet, at the same time...
This is not a real game. It is, in many ways, more similar to a visual novel, just without all the reading (which I'm all for). I'd say it's more like an interactive movie, as you spend most of the time just watching the story unfold.
So that's my main issue here. A game is supposed to give you choices, options. Here, when there are choices, it's typically only one (why even bother making it a clickable option, then, honestly?) or 2 or 3. But in the latter cases, the story won't progress until you've actually gone through all of the available choices. Which means they're not real choices.
The *only* instance I can think of when the player really has a say in the story is when he gets the chance to bang Angel for the first time. Then we're asked if we want to "make love" or "fuck." That gave me pause. It's an interesting twist. That *could* realistically have an impact on the story--and, presumably, a fairly serious one. I ended up going with 'fuck' because it just felt like what the girl wanted at that point lol.
But honestly? After finishing the game, I have a feeling even that was a fake choice and that it had zero impact on what happened next. I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised if I were. Likely the only difference would have been the sex scene that followed, if even that (perhaps the exact same animation but with gentle vs rough, go figure).
My other big peeve has nothing to do with the story itself but with the UI which doesn't allow you to save??? WTF?
I mean... I would have liked to take a break rather than play through the whole thing straight. But when I tried to exit I was told I'd lose all my progress and since I was already 4 hours in, I hated the idea of having to go through all that again, and then add however many more hours were left!
So I just kept going...
But this is not cool. Players should have an option to take a break and not be expected to play for 6 or 7 hours straight.
That's just insane.
