Hey everyone, was really thinking hard about making a post in this Thread and it will possible be the only one. It will probably contain ranting, but mostly just frustration, so sorry in advance, if someone is annoyed by it also, it will be a view from someone, who was a patron on Patreon.
I became a patron in February (10$ Dollar Tier not to flex, just disclosure). The first release was set for around mid January, but he ran into problems and the next release was stated for March, in a post at the end of February. He actually stated there already to not give out specific dates, only if he knows, he can make it.
Then End of April, he apologized, since he’s taking so long, but still wasn’t really done with everything. Also he wasn’t really happy with the foundation of the game and wanted to make it better, since he would have to work with that for the remainder of the development. All good and understandable at least at the time.
The next update was in June, with some information to gameplay and that the was 90% done and he seemed happy with progress, so everything cool. Actually, he did the most posts around June and July. Expect of Renders for the higher tiers, nothing in August and then the beginning of October.
End of September, i changed my tier to the lowest, with the intention to raise it again, if the 01. release is done. Mid October the next update with a release in November. After the months before, i was cautiously optimistic, that he would actually deliver.
Well, the End of November the last update came and so far, well game is taking longer than expected and he will give out another trailer in a bit over a week at that time, so around 10th of December was possible. Even with the release later that month, so either a Christmas or new years present.
The End of December came, but no trailer and no release. Since he even didn’t do a post about maybe having issues, that was the last straw for me.
I actually pledged for this month again, to give the specific dates. But this was it for me now, it isn’t atually the delay, but his communication and not being able to either stop with giving out release dates or even giving a real estimate on how far he is in development. He stated in the post from October that people would blow up his DM’s and that it was too much for his fragile self and also real life stress gave him a bit of a mental breakdown in September. For me it wasn’t hard to belive, that he would get angry messages, also real life can impact development. Nothing to get mad at him, but the months before made it really hard.
Sorry, that the post got longer, than expected. As far as i can tell, expect another update post until the end of January and even maybe a release, but i wouldn’t bet on it. Even if there’s a release, i will not pledge again to him, since I already support other devs now.

Yup correct... look at Afterglow, it finally came out as game. So far they had 2 or 3 update. Slow processing but hey the game is out and look promising for now

So you gave the guy 60$ just for shits and giggles and empty promises . No porn game regardless of how good renders are should cost as much as a AAA game that offers storytelling mechanics and hours upon hours of gameplay.

He always come up with an apology & new promises but never with a proper reason for delay nor any development update but he made so much hype of the game that we aren't giving up on him.... If we want to stop this kind of "milking from patreons" shit then we must stop debating over this... If all of my fellow friends agree with this then stop donating on patreon & don't ever write on this thread from today till he fullfill all of his promises....
I know it's hard for you to not debate on this lucrative game but if one dev gets money from this process then all devs will choose this easy path

In couple of years someone can make a lengthy game from all those renders attached to the "1.0 coming next month, I'm super serial this time" -posts.its just soo hard to ignore those renders even for me
Man the sooner you stop pledging after missed promises and the more people to do the same, the faster we will get an update as the author will be more incentivized to deliver.

I will agree with you on this, especially if you buy a game like this on Steam or another platform and also to stop before you spend to much money as a patron, when you don't get the benefits, that your pledge grants you or you just want to support the dev with a certain amount.
Will say this first, the money someone is willing to spend on a dev and empty promises depends on each individual.
In hindsight, i should have stopped earlier, that i can admit.
As far as my own take on being a patron is. It’s more like an investment without any monetary gains or seen as an appreciation of the work someone does.
Depending on developer and pledge, you are also able to influence parts of the game or get benefits, which aren’t public, if they are not shared
.If someone thinks, that these benefits are worth it, then you can spend a lot more than just one AAA game in a month for a developer.
But this is then again in the region of spending your money as you want, that’s what everyone needs to decide for themselves.
The only issue that i see, that thanks to devs like him, fewer projects will get support, which actually could need it.
Also, please keep in mind, that is my take as someone, who is knowingly spending money on devs, so it’s a risk either way, it just depends on how long and with how much you are willing to support them.
In this case i saw a drop of patrons, but these were already in the 1$-Tier, so he didn't loose much. Here, the ones with a higher Tier have to stop supporting him, before something really would change, at least that's my take. Since they will be, probably "loyal" fans, it will take more time for them to stop supporting.
