Hey Everyone

With 2024 coming and going with no new chapter for Artemis released, I know many have stopped by to see any status of what or when. Those of you on Patreon, especially if you were subbed in the first half of 2024, know the full details as I had shared this information with you guys at the time this happened. It's a difficult topic to discuss and the whole situation had caught myself and family in a storm of emotions. As we went into 2024, my mother's cancer took a turn for the worst. She lost a lot of strength to do things for herself and required a lot of help. I stepped in to take care of her, get her meals, keep her on track with meds, doctor appointments and even trips to the ER. All while also juggling the Artemis update. Unfortunately, she lost the battle at the end of June just two weeks before my birthday. It's been a difficult year to process everything and working on the update for Artemis has kept my mind busy. But for those who've experienced a loss of a loved one know how much emotional pain can overwhelm you at times. Especially during holidays.

Many of you, especially on Patreon, know how transparent I am with things. And bringing this up publicly certainly isn't easy, especially when it still feels new. I'm here to tell you that the update is very much still coming and there's only a handful of things left to do for this update. I wanted to chime in and set expectations as some of you are likely expecting a massive update of like 10k renders or something. Since chapter 3, the average release count has been 5-6k renders and that's about where CH6 is going to be. Content wise, a lot of the romance options took the backseat in CH5 with Artemis taking center stage (She is the title character after all.). With Chapter 6, this will be balanced out with the main story continuing and catching up with the love interests.

As a solo developer, times like this I wish I had a partner or team to hand off work to. Unfortunately, in the past many have gotten burnt out (non-AVN work) leaving me to do all the work. Which is why when I got into developing my first AVN (Artemis), I decided I'd go solo. I am hopeful I'll find a solid team in the future, but because of my past. I am very cautious of who I let into my inner circle when it comes to work.

I know how u feel Bro. 2024 in july i lost my mom myself too by cancer.

Also lost my mom with brain cancer in 2014 (so some wounds are healed with time but never leave us) and my grandfather in the same year. It was a terrible year for my family and specially for my grandmother (that is still alive) losing her husband and eldest daughter in the same year. So yeah I know well what digi.B and you are going thru, it is not easy but things get better with time. All the best and strength for you both.

I see everyone here posting about losing a loved one so I wanna share my loss as well. it will be 27 yrs since we lost my dad to Liver failure. every day we miss him. the worst part is that I was 8 yrs old and he died 2 months before I turned 9. not trying to bring everyone down. just wanted you all to know that I understand your pain

That scene is hilarious, Kindra having a little outburst seeing things out of order hehe I think it is funny because when I was younger probably would react the same, now I'm much more prudent in that regard. Kindra should of breathe in and out a few times before react hahaha but the way it happen is funnier.

I will make sure I repeat chapter 5 in the next chapter 6 update since I read somewhere in this thread (from a devlog if I remember correctly) that will be added the "cooing" sound effect, hope it is a good sound effect and make Artemis even more endearing. If so probably this scene gets even better because there is a few in it from what I can remember.

I'm gonna miss that "cooing", it was too cute from Artemis.

Hey everyone,

had my hands in everything this week. Catching up on code, more asset conversions and organizing what I have left.
Someone reached out to me about playing Artemis on their YouTube channel and I have no problem with it. But it made me think about it and I checked out another person doing a let's play (the previous person hadn't uploaded their playthrough). They played Chapter 5 and it was fun seeing their thought process when it comes to choices. Especially regarding Artemis' discernment protocol. Their primary focus were the icons and not necessarily deciding based on the choice itself.
I mentioned before I took your guys feedback on the choices and focused less on things that come off mean and more about situations that Artemis would interpret. Here's an example.
One of your first choices in CH6 is how you respond to this situation while Artemis is observing your actions. This way I feel there's more thought on the choices as opposed to being tempted by the icons. Some choices are pretty obvious like the one below. But there are other situations where there are more than two choices to mix things up. For the minmaxers such as myself, you can still track your points in the Artemis app in your phone.
Just keep in mind, it's more about balance than pumping all points to either score. I'll be revising the words to better outline how it works during her initial meeting in CH5.



I also touched base with our boy Puggy today. He was big help animating the satellite for me for CH5 and I'm hiring him again for another animation this chapter. This animation will occur on CH6's conclusion (keeping it a little surprise for now. Gave him the shakedown to not spill the beans)


That wraps it up for last week. Please be safe out there, especially my neighbors down south in LA county. The aftermath of the fires is heartbreaking to see...
