There are a few limited free-roam/point-and-click moments in specific locations (in a sorority house, in a LI's house and a party), but most of it is pure AVN. None of them are annoying or difficult to get through, you just hit all your options. There is nothing I would consider sandbox (earning money, stats, interactions at specific times, etc).

Nah, Christmas Eve isn't part of Christmas days. It's the day before Christmas. I'm not even a Christian and now that.Here we celebrate Christmas on the 24th

Yep here in Portugal our family gather together in the Christmas Eve and usually we share the gifts after dinner while chatting and doing events/gathering between us (the tradition is at midnight of 25th but I guess most families share it before lol usually at midnight almost everyone is too sleepy/tired or asleep already after a good meal and gathering). But yeah I guess like HornyyPussy said, different countries, different customs. Then on Christmas day we also gather for lunch.

Not quite. Traditionally, per the Jewish custom, the holiday/feast day starts at sundown the day before, which is why there are "eve"s for a lot of holidays, like Christmas and All Hallows'. Easter Eve is a thing too, with big church services overnight Saturday into Sunday. The night of the 24th is a popular time to go to Christmas service, especially if you've got kids and will spend the 25th at home. Different churches will of course have different rules.

For us it was a nice dinner on Eve, a couple Christmas movies, Sis and I could both open a gift.
Then Christmas Day everyone gets their butts to Grandma's House OR ELSE for the usual festivities!
