Did you have a data folder prior to extracting? if not you have to decrypt the game first. Also there is a file that will prioritize the japanese. It is like .rgss or something. if you DO have a data folder and that file still exists delete it so it is no longer overriding your translated files

Download the tool, run it in the same folder as it,
Extract the data/graphic
Drop the Google Machine in folder, overwrite
delete the rgss game file
Should work. Don't know if the full game works but did play the intro and its in english but no word wrap.

I didn't have a data folder either, I tried googling how to decrypt the game but came short handed and led to the Petschkos website but I'm sure thats just for images. I will search here but figured maybe someone could help me out. Trying to apply the machine translated file. I will check WinRAR to extract Japanese locale I think is the other idea I have
